Hi, I recently acquired a Sony VPH-1031QM which appears to be in good condition apart from the fact that it seems to have fungus growing in the coolant for the blue tube and this seems to be causing the picture to sometimes look very hazy and unclear. I have been researching how I can remove the tube from the projector and replace the coolant with a mixture of fresh ethylene glycol and glycerin. However, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how much ethylene glycol I would likely need to get a hold of in order to make up enough coolant for a 75% glycol / 25% glycerin mixture to refill just the one tube.

Thanks in advance!

I think capacity was about 2.5-3 dl, debend about how thick those silicone seams are.
Also 100% glycol works fine, you can use ethylene- or propylene glycol (pharmacy).

First you have to get rid of that fungus in tubes face plate and front glass, try CLR first.

This cleaner can be used in Europe, where you can't find CLR.

Let it be in tube least 15 minutes...

Other method is harder, since you need to remove front glass.

Thanks for the helpful info Smile I've read over those two pages and I was thinking I would probably just try the method of just using CLR first and see if I can clear out most of the fungus with that otherwise if that doesn't get it all I might see if I'm brave enough to try the other method of cutting off the glass and resealing it.

I've never had a case where the CLR method doesn't work. The trick is to swish it around for 10 minutes.

Use gloves or make sure that you have no cuts on your hand, as it will sting if you get CLR on your hand.....Smile
