Hello,
I have been a CRTer for a number of years but kind of got away from it for a while. I have a nice setup, NEC XG-110 w/ 450hrs on it. Puts up a very nice picture. Just ordered the XG-FULLHD and am excited about getting it in so I can get back into watching movies.
Just wanted to say Hi.
Mark

Welcome to the Forum and the Club. Now about those hours, we need to get them up. Nashou and I have more hours than that..... just on tweaking with test patterns.

You don't know the half of it, I have spent at least 60 hours testing different parts on the LongBows CMM. Just got some new op amps after blowing one and waiting for the some other value caps for the HF oscillations . it is lots of work but i really enjoy looking at and trying to solve problems. Some times i have to walk away for a few weeks and just watch movies.

By the time you get done fixing and tweeking and fixing, the tubes are going to be worn out, before you even get to sit back and watch a few movies in full without touching something......
(Response would probably be "but I have more tubes")
Then the cycle will start all over again......

Mark | good buy Mark, I love these cards and if your an NEC guy then now's the time to grab one. AFAIK For NEC's the cards are on blow-out,when they're gone they're gone.
You should see whole new level of performance but don't get ripped off on the cable. $50. will get you a premium Belden 25 footer.

The PJ actually has a few more hours on it than that, 1500 or 2000 if I remember correctly. Got it from work for free where someone burnt the tubes very bad. Still have those old tubes should post a pic it's a real hoot to look at. These are very bad! Found some brand new NEC Red, Green and Blue tubes and with the help of Terry we put in the new tubes. As it turned out at the same time the main processor board went and that had to be replaced. We replaced it with one out of a PJ that had never been used. Was crashed in transit and sold for parts. That was a number of year ago about 7 or so I would say. So the entire PJ shows 450 but in actuality the tubes have 450 HR. Just have not used it as much as I should. However I did put the entire 450 on it however.
Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to being here.

|
|
|
I have a resolution setup for 1080i and one for 720p already in the PJ memory. These were setup using the RGBHV main input. When I put in the Moome card will it use these resolutions or will I have to make new ones? I understand I will need to do one for 1080p just to see how it looks but I am thinking that 1080p may be a bit out of range for this 8 incher. 1080i and 720p sure do look good however

I think you'll have to tweak the resolutions again. I think when I changed inputs around on my PG+ it still could use the old inputs but required some tweaking as they were a bit off.
The only way to know if 1080p will work is to try it. An XG 110 can resolve it, but you might find the image a bit "soft". Some will recommend against it as it runs the electronics harder. The trade off is up to you. I like the sharpness of 1080i on my PG+, but I sit pretty close to the screen, especially when gaming and I can see the scanlines. It doesn't bother me though. You will have to decide if you want a cleaner softer image or a sharper scan lined image.
Let us know once you hook the card up and try 1080P.
