This morning I am making the forum rounds and happen to wander into the forum for posting your settings for whatever your display is. Makes no difference if it is a direct view boob-tube, flat panel, rear projection, or front projection. Makes no difference, either, what the viewing environment is or what you are watching. And even more bewildering is that folks posting their settings seem to think that their settings are going to be of some benefit to everyone else is posted. And as if there are no under-lying factors that make one's settings 'unique'.

My first thought that the twelve monkeys would have a better job composing the proverbial Shakespearean play in short time than those cowsumers would of inventing their own means from escaping from the slaughterhouse line. I'm not a snob nor an elitist. I simply know it is better to recognize that I am not all-empowering (I'm not a women, hah), and leave the smarter things to others.

And while many can buy off the shelf solutions to trying to make he best of what they have, few recognize the fundamentals involved, how their environment and content, etc., can play into the final overall presentation, and that its unique to their individual application.

Simply scary.

Wan, not everybody are pseudo-experts like some of us here, with our HTPC's, EyeOne's, pattern generation software/discs, HCFR, and guides on color calibration guides that take hours to read and understand, much less execute on their displays.

Yes, copy/pasting settings is generally silly, but it's not without value. If somebody else has gone to the trouble of finding "rough best" settings for their display, and posting, those are very likely much closer to the ballpark than the out-of-the-box settings (which are typically horrible)... So, at least it's a starting point for some.

Do you realize how many of your posts are of the general "people are such morons" theme? Jeebus, man - lighten up. Not everybody can be so superior as you in their technical aptitude.

I know that, but just being aware of your own intelligence, and not assuming everyone else is smarter and knows what they're doing is silly.
