is it workable to run hdmi cable from ps3 to dvi converter to rgbhv to my marquee? I'm thinking that 1080i is the best i can get. I'm currently using the factory s-video input. eventually i want to get the moome card but this is a cheap solution to get me to greater than 480 resolution i hope.

Not unless the PS3 can output RGBHV. you need the HD fury or the Moome card or external box.
the adaptor does not transcode.

Nope, no RGB from the PS3. Athanasios is right - no adapter is going to do you any good. I'd just add that while the HD Fury is probably the best solution for the money, the next cheapest solution would be a component-RGB transcoder. For instance, I sold my Crescendo RTC2000 last summer for a whopping $50. OTOH, you can probably find an original HD Fury for not much more.
There are several inexpensive options, but an adapter isn't one of them.
