I've noticed my picture getting dimmer and I thought perhaps the ole AmPro was getting close to re-tube time but I also noticed that the electronic focus was off along with G2. I have not had AmPro power supplies fail in this way. They usually just go belly up. Just for $hits and giggles, I think I'll try one. Nice to have spares.....Ain't it Wink

On the old supply check the resistor values, especially the carbon comps. they drift to a higher value over time.

Are you the one who got the 4600 HVPS on ebay for 75 bucks?

Wishfull thinking. Tried both the HVPS and SMPS with no luck. IT seems quite strange that all of a sudden I find myself doing electronic focus which was off quite a bit and turning up both the G and B while turning down the R. The R is the newest of the three. I've never had a splitter problem but it seems that the red is getting more power than the blue and green. I've never had two tubes go at exactly the same time either.

Also NO it was not me. I am not buying any more projectors. I'm trying to reduce the number so I can have my garage back.

Is it getting dimmer because the blacks are crushing like you turned down the brite? If so the G-2 output could be dropping. If the focus is changing it could be the HV output dropping but if so the size of the projected image will also change. Need more clues.

The electronic focus did change. The size of the image did not change. The red seems uneffected. Just the blue and green are dim (at the same time). The G2 seems fine along with the sub brights. The sub contrasts are all mucked up with the
red at 35, the blue at 85 and the green at 95. Whatever is failing is happening fast cause it's way over saturated with red at those settings. I have tried a new HVPS, SMPS and RGBS input board with no luck. My next thought is to try a new neck board on the green but I have to rob it from a calibrated projector to do it.

What the hell you doing up so late?

Try swapping video line, G2 line, harness wires between red and green. If no change then its neck board or tube.

That's what time I start in the morning.

This frigging thing is driving me nuts. I just tried another neckboard and splitter with no luck. I'm going to try moving all the wires over from the green to the red and try again.
If it were not for the fact that both the green and blue are equally dim and at the same time, I would say tube. I also just noticed that the cooling fan over the HOT board had failed. Also I don't know what that small board does that is screwed to the same side as the HOT board. I do have enough stock here to completely re-board this 5 times Thumbs Up
