I know this is a little different but I do own a Runco CRT!
I sent Curt the following email and he replied that he doesn't "do" Mitsu in Canada. He did say someone on his forum is an expert so I'm looking for you.
I have a question about my Mitsubishi Diamond WS 65813 which was purchased in 2004. I've already had the "blinking green light of death" if you've heard about that issue but that has been resolved.
A new problem has emerged which is now quite severe. About 6 months ago, when the tv was first turned on, the picture would present with wavy lines through it - sort of like the effect sometimes used to let you know that the TV characters you're watching are dreaming. The problem now is occurring about 80% of the time. I've tried all three of the component video inputs and I've determined it is not the signal or my surround sound receiver. I had a repair man over today and he couldn't figure out which board was causing the problem.
Now I finally get to my question. The wavy picture does NOT affect any of the on screen menus, in other words, if I have no input signal and there is just a blue screen, pulling up the TV menu is perfectly steady with no wavy lines in the picture. As soon as I turn on the receiver for an input signal, the picture and even the menu commands become wavy. Again, I've plugged in a DVD directly into the TV to prove it's not the receiver.
Given this anomaly, does that ring any bells for you? It's supposedly a great TV and I'd rather not have to trash it.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Ok, I'll skip the question of do you have any electronic knowledge.
First, I'm curious of what was repaired for the "blinking green light of death"

Copy and paste this in your notepad because I may delete this fix. Let me know when you have it.

I was going to say it is the 9 volt regulator on the signal board. I have the original regulators in stock if you need one. Just shoot me an email.

Second, for your current problem. Locate the signal board. Look for a surface mount 9 volt regulator, location id IC9C25. Try testing/resoldering. If still squiggly then test for 9 volt output while running. Enjoy, |
I think the blinking green light is the power supply. I had this on my similar Diamond WS 65815.

No, thats not the correct fix. I know what it is, I just wanted to make sure it was fixed correctly.

Mr Bob is your man. He lives on the west coast and can be seen here every so often. He often hangs out on the AVS forum in the rptv area.

Mac, Mac, he's our man, if he can't fix it no one can!
In all seriousness you're scary good at remote diagnosis. My brother actually just picked up a blinking green light 65813 this weekend, if the easy fixes don't work I'll be back here asking for help also

Yeah I agree. I for one am glad He and Craig are on this site to help out with my Mitsu if it ever goes on me. So far after the green light issue and then soon after the red tube lost focus(bad tube), all covered under warranty, nothing eles has gone wrong. but I do need to converge it from the service menu while
using an external Grid pattern of my Lumagen.
I would cheer for you too Mac but i'm not feeling well.

My $150 Mits is still going strong after my repair of the blinking light. Had to replace several capacitors in the control module and soon after lost the convergence chip and a couple of pico fuses. Soldered in new ones and she's been running like a Timex ever since. Assuming the house I buy will have enough room for it, I'll likely keep this puppy until I can't buy tubes for it anymore. With what I have invested in it, I could buy a new set of tubes and pay to fly in one of our resident pro calibrators to install them and tweak it to the nines and still be money ahead over flatpanel.
