As for Speed Racer, I disagree, there is much of this movie that is great on a high ANSI CR PJ and look flat on a low ANSI CR PJ like a CRT. I think that one looks better on a very sharp high ANSI CR PJ.

I'll say it again... Speed Racer looks like a box of Crayons vomited on the screen. It's unwatchable...(IMHO) Wink

I like the scene from 'Castaway' just after the plane ditches in the ocean. After the raft drifts from the burning plane, you hear the sounds of the sea and storm but the screen is totally black except for brief lightning flashes. Then things calm down but for 15 seconds total black until the raft suddenly springs a leak as it hit coral on the shore of the island.

What digital projector do you have?

Currently the Optoma HD7100 (not made by optoma and there are other brandings of it, like from Planar--I've talked about it here before). Calibrated ANSI CR is 647:1.

When housing market gets a little better (hopefully spring), then we will sell and I will probably leave it with house in theater and getting something better (read higher on/off) when we move. But, for what that thing costs me, I've been very impressed with it, and almost everyone actually likes it better than my Cine 8 Onyx most of the time (part of that though is that between service menu and Lumagen I've been able to tweak the hell out of it and make it look very good).
