Mark A W is DA MAN!! As usual....

soaking in turpentine makes the once formidable bond a very soft maleable bond. I got the glass off...and you're right, it was easy.

Ok...I have a piece of glass...and a bare tubeface.

Now...do I need to prime the surfaces in any way before I apply the silicone?

And would I apply the silicone to the glass or the housing? I guess it doesn't matter...but you never know.

Also, do I need to clamp the glass in place for 24 hours?

Just clean it with some metho.

NEC puts thin red rubber pads in the silicone, I guess to stop the silicone being squeezed completely out.

But if you don't clamp *too* hard you don't need them.

However, yes, you will need to clamp it for 24 hours or so.
