my crt sony 1272Q have blue ghost image, it was on/off a few time this week, but now is permanent anyone, try doing the B and R adjustment but did not help, as it is too far right side, can it be the blue bulb is out of position? can someone help, thanks

If the problem was intermittent, then finally permanent, that's electronic. If I understand the problem, the blue is shifted off to the right, and can't be adjusted. That sounds like convergence. I'm going to guess it's the CPU board. I'd pull the CPU board, make sure any socketed ICs are seated, then re-seat the board. I'd bet that will fix the problem.

Can you post a picture of it? I read the post as the blue image has ghosting, which is probably a cable or source issue.

thanks for reply, i try this morning and gave a couple bang on the right side of the casing and the blue image goes back to normal, will open to check the CPU, and component cable checked good, last calibration was done like 12years ago, and i was telling myself start saving for a sony VW85, do you sell them?
i still running at 480i with new sony blu ray BDP-S760
i think i have about less than 5000hrs, try to get the hours but unable i press page but can't get to page 5,
how much can i get this projector for ?

thanks a lot, i know the only way is to buy the new sony IFB-HD card which is USD410 right, but because my projector is so old and i thought i should up grade , i will stop whacking, thanks again, i have the sony IFB card for component can i change setting to get above 480i?

You can pick up an HD-Fury that will convert HDMI to RGB for less than $100 - it'll be the best $100 you'll ever spend in upgrades...

Yeah, no need to go to a Moome card.

Like Ben said, the older HD Fury is the best way to go (and there should be more used HD Fury 2's on the market soon with the new 3 coming out) for around $100, or a transcoder to transcode component would work, too. I sold my Kimcoder for something like $50.

I would say, even if you're planning to switch within the next year, the upgrade will still be WELL worth it.

thanks everyone, my pj is working OK now, i think is the PCU cables, i remove and insert back all cables in the PCU on the left side , my PJ is ceiling mount, and no more blue ghost image, i am not sure it will come back again, hope not.
so for $100 is well spend to get to 1080i, can it go to 1080p?
i bought it used in 1997 when it has 900hr, now just checked it have 4600hrs.

You can do 1080p on a 1272 but the picture would most likely be unwatchable - 1080i or 720p would be much better... To do 1080p properly you need a 9" set. It's overrated anyway - 1080i and 720p are both HUGE steps up from what you're currently watching. The jump from 1080i to 1080p is much less noticeable.

I had a 1271 before I went to my G70. There is no need to go 1080p - 1080i is beautiful. I'm not kidding when I say the picture will blow your mind compared to what you're watching now. The difference is night/day. Will it totally eliminate your desire to go to a new digital projector? Maybe not, but for well under $100, why not give it a whirl? If you stick with the 1272 for another year or two, digital projectors will be that much better/cheaper when you do switch.

Oh, and you didn't say where you are, but a good-condition 1271 may be worth around $100-300, depending where you live, what the market is like, and how many potential buyers you have around you. Since it isn't worth much to sell, you might as well use it up some more!!!

No, it's not a card. It's an outboard device that plugs into the RGBHV input on one of your IFB cards.

Definitely get a fury or something else that will let you run 1080i. It is well worth it and looks great on a 127x.

thanks again for all the help, no more blue ghost image but now after calibration i have white top broken line, normally will go away after 20 to 30 mins, this is still there, could it because i have set the vertical/horizontal max or minimum on some position on the test pattern? this calibration was my first time, picture looks OK as before, not much changes. can someone help thanks
