If the problem was intermittent, then finally permanent, that's electronic. If I understand the problem, the blue is shifted off to the right, and can't be adjusted. That sounds like convergence. I'm going to guess it's the CPU board. I'd pull the CPU board, make sure any socketed ICs are seated, then re-seat the board. I'd bet that will fix the problem.

It's no small project getting to it, so wait for Curt to chime in what he thinks.

Can you post a picture of it? I read the post as the blue image has ghosting, which is probably a cable or source issue.

What!?!?? Seriously? You're watching Blu-ray at 480i? That's a CRIME!!! You know that old 1272 is capable of a great 1080i HD picture, don't you? It wouldn't take that much time or money to get it working, either.
You have to be in service mode to see the hour count page. Hold the test key key down (better to do it on the built-in control panel) until it asks if you want "service man" mode. Press the up key. Then, you'll be able to access page 5.
Oh, and quit whacking the side of the machine - that'll make it worse.
What part of the world do hail from?

You can pick up an HD-Fury that will convert HDMI to RGB for less than $100 - it'll be the best $100 you'll ever spend in upgrades...

Yeah, no need to go to a Moome card.
Like Ben said, the older HD Fury is the best way to go (and there should be more used HD Fury 2's on the market soon with the new 3 coming out) for around $100, or a transcoder to transcode component would work, too. I sold my Kimcoder for something like $50.
I would say, even if you're planning to switch within the next year, the upgrade will still be WELL worth it.

thanks everyone, my pj is working OK now, i think is the PCU cables, i remove and insert back all cables in the PCU on the left side , my PJ is ceiling mount, and no more blue ghost image, i am not sure it will come back again, hope not.
so for $100 is well spend to get to 1080i, can it go to 1080p?
i bought it used in 1997 when it has 900hr, now just checked it have 4600hrs.
thanks again.

You can do 1080p on a 1272 but the picture would most likely be unwatchable - 1080i or 720p would be much better... To do 1080p properly you need a 9" set. It's overrated anyway - 1080i and 720p are both HUGE steps up from what you're currently watching. The jump from 1080i to 1080p is much less noticeable.

I had a 1271 before I went to my G70. There is no need to go 1080p - 1080i is beautiful. I'm not kidding when I say the picture will blow your mind compared to what you're watching now. The difference is night/day. Will it totally eliminate your desire to go to a new digital projector? Maybe not, but for well under $100, why not give it a whirl? If you stick with the 1272 for another year or two, digital projectors will be that much better/cheaper when you do switch.
Here's a few screenshots from my old projector that might give you an idea how much better 1080i could look:

Oh, and you didn't say where you are, but a good-condition 1271 may be worth around $100-300, depending where you live, what the market is like, and how many potential buyers you have around you. Since it isn't worth much to sell, you might as well use it up some more!!!

Oh, and here's a comparison I did for a friend who didn't think is worth upgrading to an HD source for his 12xx...
http://ecrabb.com/garen/sd_hd
The images use Javascript rollovers and I didn't preload them, so you might have to wait/fart around to make the images load.

No, it's not a card. It's an outboard device that plugs into the RGBHV input on one of your IFB cards.

Definitely get a fury or something else that will let you run 1080i. It is well worth it and looks great on a 127x.

I accidently fed a 1272 1080p once. Don't bother. It's Blurrrryyyyyy.
Set it up for 1080i and call it a day.
Get the HDFury1 with the power supply and the 'green' RGBHV cable. The get a DVI to HDMI cable and set your bluray player to 1080i. Turn off 24 frames per second in the players menu.
It's a great picture. Even at 4600 hours. My 1252 has 14 000 hours and still looks ok

Setting the blanking controls properly should fix this.
