I am SORRY for jacking up the forum with THAT Chronicles thread.
I will start a new thread and try to be clear, lucid and succinct, and no finger pointing.
It's just a machine that has some issues, sh*t happens.
The door is open for the comment, machine has issues? So do you...
Sorry again
Dave

Hey, no worries. The (well disguised) female part of me usually jumps onto posts where drama happens, esp. on avs.
I just thought the thread got pretty derailed. Back at 'em men, let's fix this beastie!

Are you serious? Truly are you? I have thought of that but it seemed, well, to nutty.
That is genuine surprise not guff.
Thanks Mac

My first thought after reading a few of these posts:
This to me sounds like some kind of grounding issue. (I know you have a dedicated 20 amp circuit) but who is saying the house ground has not been pulled out at some point.
Take a 4' metal piece of rebar or metal tube of some sort and drive it into the ground and throw a couple of pales of water around it. Wrap a bare piece of copper wire around it and clamp it. Take this directly to the LVPS mounting screw and make a secure connection. Next take an extension cord with no ground and plug the projector in.
See if this makes any difference.

Thank you for that Jim. The house is new {2 years old} But you may have a point I have never looked at the grounding rod at all since it was installed. I built the house, but after inspection of the electrical I just buried it and haven't looked at it ever. Why would you ? I have done landscaping around the foundation and was using a Bobcat near there. I would sure feel stupid if I have knock the ground loose or nicked that bare wire. I 'll check that out.
Also I have a Furman power conditioner that I have run an extension cord from before that made no difference to the issue.
Any thoughts on that?
Thank you

Wouldn't it be ironic if it WAS the Furman?

It would be but I only did that as a test. GOZER is on a dedicated line to the main panel, isolated from all other sources.
Stop speed reading.
Also How about just an isolated ground outlet?

No, the E'homes aren't that sensitive.
Do what I said in the other thread. Disconnect the convergence board ribbon cable and pull the focus board. That would eliminate those potential boards.

If no other electronics are showing the herring bone I doubt its the house ground. But as as said before in the other thread if any sources are not connected tot he same electrical circuit ground loops can cause his problem. I had very faint ones and audio hum and it was the sat dish ground going to my main panel and not the sub panel. i moved it and silence and no hum bars.
An Isolation transformer before the Sub panel cleaned it up even more.
But Dave has said he disconnected all sources from the PJ and it does it. I say it could be an internal ground strap loose or not making contact. Maybe even the one in the LVPS where the AC comes in. That should be checked.
But I bet its something on the CLM as its really the only board not checked or swapped out IIRC.

BTW, I think you should start a third, fourth and 5th thread, one for each board pulling-outta-the-projector.

OK this wasn't supposed to be a trouble shotting thread it was just to apologize for the one that got off track. I can go back to that one if you want... I am going to try the ribbon cable and the focus board.
See you in a few.

Would not effect it. If you have all this hv running around the projector, it is going to induce voltage into other areas thus all the grounding, so if all this induced voltage etc has no where to bleed off you would get symptoms such as yours.
Make sure you have all the grounding iin the projector in place as well. HV and LV mounting screws, dag wires from front of crt's to neck, stainless braides from necks to rear panel, and in your case I would throw a wire in from the rear heatsink to any part of the chassis just for good measure.
