|
|
Hey all! I'm hoping someone can assist and share some wisdom as I'm having an issue with the blue tube on my XG-751.
For about the last 6 mos. or so, the blue tube would periodically turn off. There never seemed to be any rhyme or reason for it, or any sort of consistency regarding when it would stop working. Turing the PJ on/off wouldn't bring it back, etc. Sometimes it would be out for a few minutes, other times it would stay off for a few hours or so and then come back. It would just come it go as it pleased. Well, it has now been gone for over a week and shows no signs of coming back to life. Although I don't necessarily dislike the color yellow, I have to say when it comes to a projected image it "somewhat" detracts from its watchability.
I have isolated the problem to the projector and have eliminated the sources/wiring from the equation.
Any ideas what could be causing this headache? (Headache both from trying to figure out the cause and from looking at a yellow screen) Would tube failure be the most likely cause, or could some sort of a wiring/connection/board issue with the internals be the issue? I know that its difficult to diagnose from afar, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if it helps, when looking into the blue lens at start up or when changing to a different source, i can see a faint flicker of the blue initially, but then nothing...
Thank for any insight!
Robb

You either have a bad neck board (on the back of the tube neck), or the V board has died. DO NOT run the set any more, if the V board has failed, you risk snapping the tube neck if the Vertical deflection is way off the tube face.
Best bet is to send me both the blue neck board and the V board to test and repair.

Thanks Curt! I will pull my PJ down in the next couple of days and send them your way...
I must say my knowledge of the internals are rather lacking... The neck board I'm sure I can figure out if its on the back of the tube neck. However, which board is the V board? Any removal instructs or already marked-up pictures you have identifying it/them without spending any more of your time?
Thanks Again!
