I was offered this brand knew VDC. Could it be a Longbow? And which would be it's value?

Thanks

Karma, yes, that is a Longbow (the LB in the part number stands for LongBow. Looks like you found one of the ones that went up for sale last year. I'll let others comment on it's worth, I'm not sure what people paid for the others. It's basically a brand new 8500 with factory HD-145 lenses, so it's definitely a factory pimped 8-incher!

Yepp its a longbow just like my twins!! Very Happy

I paid 990 and 1110 for mine, and none in that auction went for more than 1300 for your information, now add shipping cost to it unless they picked it up, then you'll have a ball park number of it was in total cost to the seller.

Let me know how much they want, just curious and what's your location i want to see if its one of the 7 that an e-bay seller bought.

I found this auction on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150387003177#ht_2158wt_1163

that was completely wrong, describing a brand new 8500 ULTRA build in 1995 (??), but it clearly looked a much more recent and better VDC 8500 Longbow. I offered 2k USD, but the man refused...

A question for Nashou: I have an almost stock 1997 Marquee 8500 (with color corrected HD 145 lenses) that I bought from Dragamn abot 2 years ago (Bests from Italy, Dragan Thumbs Up). It is a low hours unit (less then 3000 hours on chassis and tubes) and performs very well, at 800p@48 but even at 1080p/50 (I live in PAL land) is very nice and enjoiable. Do you thing the longbow would be a real step ahead ?

Thanks

The longbows are ultras which have more adjustments for geometry. IF your not going to do a side by side stack or using a curved screen than id keep the PJ you have now and maybe use the 2k for Frankenyokes and maybe a set of 9 inch tubes and lens's and convert it to a 9500LC. If you could get it for less than id get it, maybe 1500. but he wont sell it at that price he's asking. I saw it too when it was set at 5500.

But the Longbow is a step up from your machine but not worth the price he wants , plus shipping to Italy.
keep what you have and see if you can find 9 inch tubes instead. Once i get these Thomas tubes swapped into a set of LC housings and test them thoroughly We can work out a deal with me modding a set of VNB's to work with the tubes and
all mounted in housings and new bellows plus lens for what you offered him Wink

Hi, glad to hear your 8500 is still delivering the goods, that's what Marquee's are known for.
For about what it costs to just ship a Longbow to Italy you could completely upgrade and re-build the electronics in your 8500 for a nice performance increase. Like Nash said, the LB is great for extreme geometry and it's a very nice machine but it's still an air-coupled 8500.
Also, if your not running HDMI direct with Moome card that's a nice upgrade too.

Hi Dragan, yes, I read about your nice work on rebuilding Marquee electronics... and I'm thinking to send my electronics to you for upgrading, even if, for the while, the unit runs rock solid with no drifting
If I can deal with Nash to change my 8" with 9" plus housing etc, that will be the exact timing...

I run HDMI through Lumagen HDP to Moome HDMI card... with a perfect gamma and grayscale tracking, checked with iOne, HCFR and the help of Kal's tutorial.. Very Happy

(PS: I bought from you on Videogon, with the nickname of "flex63blu, and I have a very nice memory of you...)

keep in mind it's more than just conv., every single person so far has reported a nice improvement to picture quality.

thanks, that's very kind of you. I also BTW still have an 8500 on my ceiling. I have no plans to replace it. Very Happy

Why wouldn't this have been done before you sold it?
