|
|
I am looking around for a digital for some portable situations. I found a Studio Experience unit that seems to have alright specs but also has the below comment that I don't understand. If I am using and HDFury2 will I be able to utilize this DVI input (with an adapter) with the HDMI output from my reciever?
Thanks
Dan
| Quote: | | One thing that is unique about this HD projector is that the DVI input is not burdened with HDCP compliance. That is one reason the picture is so sharp as the digital picture signals don’t get processed and encrypted keeping them more pure. For DVI connections this will require an output device that doesn’t encrypt either |

What this means is this projector isn't HDCP compliant. If there's a VGA or YPbPr/component input then you may be able to use the HDFury2 if not then you're stuck if you try to use this projector with an HDCP source.
In my opinion this isn't a plus at all...

Pardon my ignorance, but what the *%%&$ is a 'Studio Experience'?
If this is a brand name, you can bet they are rebadging something, and I'd bet that customer support is close to 0. Why not look for a more name brand unit that might have a hope in heck of lasting more than 90 days?
AS for the text above, it sounds like they simply are not HDCP compliant, which makes the DVI-D input useless.
Or am I way out to lunch on both of my comment? Wouldn't be the first time.

Boxlight Corporation of Poulsbo, Washington is a unique company in the projector industry. It is dedicated entirely to the projector business, but its product line consists largely of private label editions of projectors manufactured by other makers. Over the years it has built a huge business and an excellent reputation based on customer service and favorable consumer-friendly policies pertaining to sales, returns, exchanges, and upgrades. Studio Experience is the home theater division of Boxlight.

Snake Oil Alert! DVI on this product not able to decrypt HDCP isn't going to affect the sharpness unless the input stage and video processor are of some extreme limited bandwidth. Sounds like a joke.

Yeah, I have to say, that's a complete load of CRAP. It doesn't make any sense at all. Any company that spouts that sort of nonsene either (a) has no idea what they're talking about, or (b) they're knowingly lying.
Either way I would avoid a company like that.
Kal
P.S. You could also use Moome's MUX-HD to add HDCP compliance to the DVI input.

You beat me to it! I read that and wondered are they that stupid, or do they think their customers are that stupid. Can someone in this day and age really understand this little about technology? In either case, I'm with you.

Back to the OP, I just realized that since I access Curt's forum via HTTP as opposed to HTTPS, the pages served are not encrypted and thus more pure. That must be why the site looks so sparkly.

Delicious?
A note to everyone else: I've noticed people like this on other forums... They have only one post and it's always a short generic response that can be added to just about any thread and still be on topic (not here obviously). It's done to spam but I don't understand how the spamming works here. Often there will be a website link in the text,in their signature, or in their profile but this user has nothing. So why bother?
