I check C/L once a day to see if there's anything I want. Most of the real deals pass me by because they simply show up and get sold so fast that I never see them.

YOU SUCK! Very Happy

My best deal ever was a FREE G90. A 5 hour drive to Portland to get it, but hey, it's a G90!

My best was the Runco 1100/1209s for $600.00. Frankly, I'd rather have the barco over the sony. If it breaks at least I know it can be fixed.

I dunno. I was interested until. I saw the 8.75% tax. That was a deal breaker.

It looks like it's at someone's home. It doesn't look like a business storage area to me. And cash only? Sales tax? WTF?

I dunno, if that's someone's home, it's the worst HT installation ever. A 20" TV and a power bar and a space heater? Very Happy

Just because it turns on and throws a pic doesn't mean the YA board is good. If that's bad then you pretty much have 2 space heaters in that pic. Laughing

At least someone will make a profit selling some bits off it. Should get at least $500 for the lenses if unscratched.

I check all the CLs within a 3 hour drive of me daily (I use an automated tool to poll them). I have specific things I am looking for. My best haul were two Runco 1100s (Barco 1209s with colored c elements) for chump change. I did have to get a new bare green from Greg Eisemann but with a bit of horse trading with Greg and selling some parts essentially my Runco 1100 on the ceiling + the new green tube were essentially free.

Of course that is if you don't count my time. This is a hobby so I don't (mostly) but it took two machines to get one working. I probably spent two months (on and off) getting one good working Runco out of the two I had. Not complaining for what I paid but just a a warning to less experienced CL buyers. The seller was completely honest with me in fact he oversold the problems to some extent. I am happy. I have yet to see a $200 G90 though but like jkruger I'll stick with my Barco/Runco since parts are a LOT easier to find.

Yes and now you are going to tell me how the G90 lenses are superior to the 1292.

This is probably a wise decision. I have seen a couple of G90s and I believe they were hyped to maintain or increase their resale value. I know I have told the story, but I still laugh thinking about the one guy who said he didn't see that much of an improvement over his 135LC. At the end of the day, there isn't going to be a big difference between pjs running the same tube/lens combo.

No I can't say that as I've never used 1292 HD10F's but others have and they say they are.

When is that story from? Until HD DVD and Blu-ray came along 3 or 4 years ago, that story probably had some relevance. But, in current-day terms, that story is ridiculous, because now that we have a really high-quality source in Blu-ray, a G90 would DESTROY a 135LC.

With some minor caveats, I agree.

It was from two years ago. I can't remember if we watched a hi def disc or not, but we did watch some Dish hi def while I was there. The Dish was fed to a Lumagen. The pj was tweaked by Roger Galvin who is considered one of the best G90 calibrators around.

I only had my G90 set up briefly and it was rough at best. It was obvious the G90 is on a another level than the G70. I understand the 135LC is similar in performance to the G70 although I have never a 135LC. The geometry controls on the G90 are superior to the G70. Also, I suspect the G90 lenses play a big part in being able to achieve perfect edge convergence.

BTW, the reason my G90 is offline is I wasn't happy with the blue tube so I'm in the process of getting a replacement. I'm very anxious to get the G90 put back together in the near future.

You guys crack me up. What a bunch of projector whores Laughing It's understandable that that Curt would scope this stuff out because that's what he does for a living but the rest of you? Rolling Eyes I don't even bother to look anymore as I don't need it. These days with the economy the way it is, you can find great deals on just about anything. If I bought everything that was "such a good deal I couldn't pass it up" I would have no money for food.

I'm selling Tower Bridge in London for 1/10th it's actual value if anyones interested. Thumbs Up

I check Craigslist to past the time mostly, sometimes I find something I can use. I have gotten a few things off the free section. As for looking for PJ's, I just interested in a 10PG, just to have spare parts. Buying stuff to resale is not so easy, especially with a PJ.

Find it, pick it up at a decent price, test it, repair/retube it, advertise it, collect the money, ship it, make sure the buyer is happy. By the time it is all said and done, you have to get the the PJ's for next to nothing, to make it worthwhile.

Heck, I bought a knife for $5.00 at a yard sale that is worth several hundred dollars. Why bother with PJ's to make money?

Deron.
