Hi there, I am a brand newbie to this forum. I have a well used Vision One which is causing me some grief. Recently I had a small pop and a burning smell. After a few minutes I fired it up again and all appeared fine except for what appears to be too much brightness on the red tube, the screen has a strong pink colour. I have had a look around the HVPS and nothing appears to be burnt. The lead from the HVPS to the splitter is a bit dicsoloured but that's about all I can find. Can anyone help me with some advice to get rid of my red screen? Many thanks

Chances are the red neck board is bad. I've got stock.

these are actually good failures to have. As long as the tube didn't get a deflection burn, simply follow your nose to the bad module. Sniff around the back of the red tube and see if it's the neck-board like Curt suggested. The site has an easy tour-guide to guide you through the chassis,

Curt, you were spot on, I removed the red neck board and found a small resistor fried. It is under the large brown one on the left of the board, just under the 'H' on the Electrohome label. Hopefully this small issue is the only damage. Curt can you please advise how I order a replacement from you etc.? Many thanks

Just feed that red neck board some grits now and then, stock up some PBR, and let it listen to a few hours of Rush Limbaugh and it will be right as rain.

Shoot me an email to curtpalme@shaw.ca.
Usually a fried resistor indicates other problems. DO NOT try and power this up, as the spot kill circuitry might be damaged on the board, and sometimes you can fry a tube when you power down.
That's what I have a very spot burned test set for, to work on neck boards with.

consider sending Curt the other 2 neck-boards and ask him to replace the 2 electrolytic caps as well. these can cause the big brown resistor to run really Hot and might cause parts under it to fail
