How wide should the front porches be?

I was playing with a 1440x960p60hz resolution tweaking the porches and noticed the pixel count at roughly 1700. Would this be considered normal?

Genrally how close does a refresh rate need to be to 48, 60, 72, and 96Hz? While playing with the porches I noticed the refresh creeping up 60.588 or something like that.

I'm at 95.904 Hz for 96 Hz which is exactly what is needed (i.e. 96 Hz / 1.001).

You need to find a balance between porches that gets you as close as possible to the desired refresh rate.

Note that the actual refresh rate will only be displayed when you double-click on the little camera icon in the attached image.

That double click trick doesn't work for interlaced res's - at least it doesn't for me.

A. Fryia, you want to get the refresh rate to 3 decimal places.

47.952, 71.928, or 91.904.

60 hz (59.97), is just wrong.

I'm making adjustments purely trial and error with more error it seems. What I'm really trying to understand is this whole porch & refresh rate thing. I'm working on a DVDx2 H&V resolution 1440x960p

I start with an image shifted too far to the right that I can't center. I'll bump up the front H porch or total pixels and the image shifts back to center. If I add a couple more pixels for good measure the image jumps back to the right again. This seems overly sensitive.

Is there a spread sheet or math formula to calculate PowerStrip settings? Other than trial and error is there a way to determine the settings?

I don't know how the memory works in a Sony but on a NEC the image may shift back because the projector found a scan rate already saved that was close. You may want to delete some of your memorys....If a Sony works that way.

Mike,

No unfortunately. The PJ will automatically load one of the Preset memories #3 or #4 at this resolution and assign it to the next available User memory 10-99.

What I don't understand is that just a couple pixels will cause the image to shift far right to a point I can't electronically center the image. If I add couple pixels more it re-centers again.
