|
|
This is a red tube over at a friends house in an 8110. I haven't driven down there yet but was hoping for some suggestions on what boards to bring? I don't remember ever seeing this before except from a really old Multi standard decoder on a 1993 8000. In that case the "meteor shower" was on all 3 tubes.
| Quote: | for the past two weeks the projector has been showing a diagonal band of dotted red lines both on Blue Ray and broadcast TV. It is most noticable on dark images.
The diagonal lines are made of many dots that are "raining" downward. They are spaced about two inches apart. They show on all red images and spill into the black and very dark areas. They scrol at various speeds. When push the # I can only see the lines on the bars of various dark. I can't see the lines on the grids. I hope this helps! |

Sounds like V blanking issues?
Try the heatsink, CLM and VIM.

Try the heatsink, CLM and VIM. | thanks Curt. This is an original 40K hour VIM so I'll get it swapped out. the other boards were re-built and tested recently, so less likely.

Athanasios | Glen's not a part swapper, but he's not too far away either. 30 minute trip after work usually

Almost sounds like what happens when the heater wires on the neck card are pressed down on the circuit board. Try pulling the wires up and away from the board.

Oh yeah Scott!!! Good Call!! thats why its always a good thing to move the heater wires tot he underside of the board, a pain to do but still doable.

It is best to re-locate the wires under the board, this improves the image lots.
Takes about 15mins per board if you are doing it right.
Cheers

I agree with you Athanasios about the Jarmo mod.
but I do my mod a little different, sorry, no info as this is a bit of a secret of mine, lots of time invested
Cheers

If you use jarmos heater filament filter those are not needed!
Athanasios | it seems easier to just add the inductor at each VNB no? Might also be more effective since your doing it right at the card. then again JArmo uses a fairly large inductor + cap+ a couple of beads which looks to be very effective on the scope. I doubt you could cram all this stuff on the VNB under the heat-sink
Edit: moving this to Marquee maint. thread

Like jarmo mentions on the MMPE thread, the beads only address the noise to the heater elements, the reason cleaning up
right at p14 is it clears up any noise that can be transmitted to the other voltage rails in the umbilical cord which is all bunched together. My idea was a filter at each umbilical cord(after) but i milti filter for each voltage rail that goes to the vnb.

This for 'me' makes no difference as I sheild the cables away from all others.
I have added my own sheilding for each voltage on all looms in the Marquee chassis.
Cheers

the only thing Steve hasn't thrown into his MArquee is the kitchen sink
Thanks for the tip on the Ferrite beads, looking forward to trying those.
