I think I'll be sticking with my Marquee for a while longer - HD is taking off here and I've just bought a scaler capable of handling it and outputting at my PJ's sweetspot. So for the first time in my PJ's life the ancillaries and sources have caught up with its capabilities....so sling it out now? I think not.

I keep telling you guys, digital is where it is at, CRT sucks. If you have a Cine 9, you should have upgraded years ago! Hurry, upgrade now. PM me for removal of your archaic crappy Cine 9--I won't even charge you for removal! Smile

Even if you were to presume all the following:

>That I have more than 5000 dollars to spend on a projector
>That a new 1080p digital projector existed that went ALL THE WAY to black and outperformed my MP Gen II modded 9500LC
>That the digital had a permanent, color temperature-stable LED lamp source

...then there's still no way I'd switch.

Not even for free.

My PJ has LESS than 200 hours run time on NEW Panasonic P19LCP tubes. At the
rate I'm putting hours on it, that will still be true on New Year's Day. Its tubes will
be mid-life when I'M mid-life and ready to retire!

As long as I can get a signal into the Marquee, and it's running reliably, I'll stick
with what I have. And thanks to VDC's ongoing development of the Marquee
chassis, I will probably end up upgrading to a NEWER Marquee before this one has
accumulated significant additional wear on it. And then you can count on at LEAST
ten more good years of support and reliable operation.

The rest of the world can GO digital for all I care. They WON'T have a better picture
and I won't have to spend any money on it. And the less interest in CRTs on their
part, the greater the surplus supply is for me!

I can see it now. When I move into my next house, I'll be able to plan out installation
points for the latest UBER-Marquee from VDC, my existing one,
a G90, a Cine 9, and at least one other elite CRT projector in each of several rooms,
so if you ask which is better, I just go check them all out and get back to you.

Why are you resurrecting an eight year old thread? I bet ninety percent of the people who originally voted in this pole have gone digital.

I must confess it is amusing to read Dave's replies. He ended up switching to a DLP two or three years later.
