A few years ago I was one of the first to buy a ext HD box , forget the model name but its black with the 5 bncs at the back 2 hdmi inputs and 1 YUV . Anyway it has a problem with the remote not working and sometimes locks up to one input and has to be powered down to switch inputs . I told moome about it and he sent me the components in the picture . However i was unable to get a procedure for the mod . there a few SM capacitors resistors and a Eprom of some sort . has anyone done this and has a procedure , or maybe moome can Chime in .

Thanks

Moome - I have that Ext-HD box as well (VGA out and DVI-test feature). In my case I sent it once to Barry to get the ringing fix done and then later sent it to you as the power supply wouldn't stay on at the jack

However I still have problems as described by OP regarding changing inputs and powering on/off with the remote. In my case it will sometimes work. Other times I may have to repeatedly hold the remote down for maybe 10 - 20 seconds and sometime along there it will change input (this can be after having it on another HDMI or component for a long time - or just after switching). As we all know it is responsive if you power it off and back on; so I have mine powered off the reciever's switched power.

Is there something that really fixes this or do I have the fix already (having had Barry repair it)?

I have a simple solution to the locking/etc problems. I just plug my EXT-HD into my receiver's switched power outlet. That way the EXT-HD gets powered on every time I use my HT. I haven't had any troubles since I started doing this. On the other hand I usually only have one source so I don't switch inputs all that often, but I do sometimes switch and it has always worked OK since I started doing it this way.

Hi moome,

Will you accept my EXT HD for upgrade before it develops any problem? I can ship it to you in Taiwan easily.

Thanks,
Ben
