|
|
This is a wierd one, got a set of used LUG's installed in housings and when I run them the B + R leak, red fairly badly. Luckilly not enough to damage the set but you can hear the "sizzle" at the Red boot and ticking from the Blue. Strange thing is these are the newer style boots with clear sleeve. I've never seen these leak and I even peeled them off , cleaned the bell and re-sealed with the correct White paste that comes with new Anode leads. ANy ideas, should I just order a pair of new ones?
If so who do you call for that, Charlie in Loiusianna or Gina in florida?

VDC will not let you buy HV leads by themselves, they only sell them attached to their tubes now. YOu'll need to use an old one and silicone it on.

Nashou | I don't know really, it's silicone mixed with some kind of White powder. IT has a distincitve smell though, every Marquee smells like it inside.

I can't find anything worldwide. VDC bought out Hobson Bros out of Chicago years ago, and they supplied all of the anode caps from what I've seen here.
I bought 20 anode caps and pigtails, but I think they are only rated at 20KV for 'regular' televisions.

No, I wish! The splitter simply distributes the 34Kv to each tube. You'd get almost nothing with 10Kv running to each tube. There's a little series resistor inside the splitter to limit current flow a bit, but to 34Kv, those resistors more or less act as shorts.

1/3rd of the current per tube, not 1/3rd voltage.

If they are selling them again, I'll take 20.

Barco anode leads are better to contain HV - they are harder to install and seal though....
I make sure the clips are well positioned first, and then use black rtv (ge siliconeII)
with a thin applicator nozzle to backfill under the cup. This works well, if the clips
aren't dislodged, and you let the silcone cure for a couple days before usage.

Yes I am. I used to buy them 20 at a time, bought maybe 100 altogether overall, but then they shitcanned me.
Can't say I blame them, for every NOS tube I got that needed a new HV lead, they lost a sale. Trust me, I've gotten lots of NOS tubes in the last 3-4 years.
