What is the best Bang for Buck Processing that a crt'er can try.
I'm not quite ready to drop 2,000. on a VP30 yet.
What do you all suggest? 8)

IMO..An upscaling player like the momitsu and a HD reciever like the comcast 3412 with a Transcoder is all you need.

I'd suggest you take the excellent deal I'm offering on an HD Leeza with an SDI RP56  . Seriously, that puppy does an amazing 1080p.

Well, i just upgraded(?) from the dish 811 to the dish 642 DVR.
That gives me hdmi out and rgb.
I'm not sold on the momitsu, im saving for the Sony BR player.
Then my sources w/ be.... B/R, Sat hd, and PS3.
Now all i need is a processor and the sony DVI card.

If I am correct you are running a 12xx PJ. Personally I would hold off on the BD. Both formats are going to be around for a while. So save your money and upscale or get the HD-A1

Yes, and does better than most upscaling players in its price range. But it only does it via HDMI.

almost all scalers are a bargain. a good doubler once coust 15,000$$$
upconverting 1080I to 1080P cost 20,000$$$ now a lumagen will do it for under
2,000$$ . the problem is not finding a bargain it`s picking from the wealth of them

If you want to go real cheap try the samsun ts 360.It's a dish receiver that will upscale to 1080i and for $50/$80 on the bay it would do until you can get a better 1080p unit.The picture looked good from my Rotel 1080dvd player on a 8' wide roll up blind from the patio door

Yes, but the Samsung TS-360 will only upconvert via the DVI-D/HDMI connection. For component, it is limited to 480p.

HD rezes are available via the VGA connector... I'm running my Retrodata 801 this way.

I knew that receiver worked as a cheap hdtv ota receiver, but are you saying it also has the ability to upscale dvds? Does it have component inputs or something that it upscales off of? just curious sounds interesting, I have been thinking of getting one just for the fact that it does ota hd, but it would be really cool if it worked as a scaler to

I'm using mine to upscale component 480i, and I beleive it's got S-video and composite inputs also...

I just picked up an Immersive Holo3dGraph II. I haven't played around with it much yet, but it looks to be quite versitile, albiet trickier to set up (but I like to tinker so it works for me).
It'll also process HD content (as long as you get the HD-AUX card that goes with it) over its DVI connectors. No HDMI output, but who really needs that yet...
I got mine for only $300 with the HD-AUX... if you can find it for that or less, I'd say try it and play around with it some.

The 642 has RGB out?? Hmm. That would save me the cost of a transcoder, which would almost justify the cost of the HD DVR.

Well, I'm pretty happy with my Momo v880N, and plenty of others are mightily impressed with its DVD scaling ability. The new v888N supposedly can scale other inputs but I haven't heard how good it looks. Won't do BR tho, of course...

Fist let me say that i have a dish 622. And it does have component rgb out.
