Hi all,
I imagine that this has been beaten to death, but I am looking for a straightforward switch solution. It has been suggested that a simple component video switch will work for a 5.1 audio switch, but I have found that they degrade the AQ, introduce a strong grounding hum, and/or completely mess up the existing trim levels. While the Zektor switches work fine for this purpose (the 4x1 has been discontinued), I am hoping to find a simple, analog audio switch: 6 RCA x 2 in --> 6 RCA x1 out (I would even go with 3 stereo switches). Given that so many have pre-amps and AVRs that only have MC inputs, I am surprised that no one has made one of these. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanx!

that should do it for you.
EDIT: that is an older model, the new one has analog, digital and HDMI all in one.

Thanks, Athanasios!
It does not appear that these are still made (not listed on Zektor's site), and there are not any currently listed for sale on ebay. I will keep checking back (it will be a while before the budget allows something in that price range anyway). If I can find three stereo 2x1 switches, I might even consider that...
EDIT: I will look into the 7.1. Thanx!

Here is the switch I've been using for a couple of months now. It has worked flawlessly but there is quite a big price difference. If I can get the ground loop issue squared away in my H/T room with using the Pioneer Elite receiver as a pre-amp it will be up for sale in the FS thread for a really good price.

I'm in the market for such a switch too. I'm trying to squeeze more life out of my 10 year old Sony receiver with 5.1 analog input. My HD-A1 is already populating the single 5.1 analog input and I'd like to add a Blu-ray player to the mix with 5.1 analog output. I'm thinking of trying this switch...

Anyone tried it as a 5.1 analog audio switcher? Can't beat that price! The IR switching capability seems nice. It looks highly rated as well.

Doh! Guess that switch won't work! I just read that on that switch the levels are not matched between the inputs.
I did some poking around and there's a thread on AVS about using Y-splitters instead of a switch...

I think I may give that a try.
I also found this thread on AVS...

Many on there were recommending using the Philips PH-61148 4 X 1 HD Component AV Selector...

It's currently unavailable online, though I know I've seen it for sale in my local Walmart. Not the most aestheticly pleasing of switches and it's manual, but paying an arm and a leg for a Zektor isn't something I'm considering. Better off getting a new receiver! Of course, my receiver is a POS, so for some, perhaps the Zektor makes sense.
