Hi - apologies if I am posting in the wrong place but since it's a freebie....

Curt kindly supplied me with a fab NEC 9PG+ a year and a half ago and it's a cracker. Tubes are in great shape and there's no problems with the unit.

I'm just about to return to the UK to be a student again and I can't ship the PJ back home. So, rather than skip it I'd like it to go to a good home. If anyone is interested then pls pm me. As I said - I want no money ( I'd rather it gets used ) but you'd need to collect it from Trier in Germany ( right on the border with Luxembourg ).

Tks and apologies again if I've broken any rules....

Hi Guys - no joke. Kschmit - remember I talked with you last year about power supplies etc.... I eventually just stuck with the US transformer - which it comes with.

If more than 1 person wants it I'll sick the names in the hat and pick one out. But is free to a good home, no joke. Otherwise it'll just get thrown and that'll be sad Surprised(

If curt reads this, it's me Mark Bird from Trier, you shipped it to Frankfurt for me... ( and were really helpful, so thanks ).

Gee, isn't this against forum rules ? Selling or giving away a working complete projector is still taking food out of poor Curt's mouth you realize...

Now the guy who WAS going to pay Curt $2000. for an old NEC isn't going to ! How's he going to pay his rent if people keep giving away projectors ???

It's about 300 km away from me.... tempting, but I think someone make better use of this than me.

Well I absolutely apologise if I have broken any rules and I definitely do not wish to do curt any harm whatsoever - I am horrified at the prospect ! In that case I'll withdraw the offer and will skip the unit. Apologies for breaking the rules Embarassed

400 for me Gerbrand, but don't have a car/license of my own:-(.

Come on who is going to pay a hefty fee for transporting and importing an old beast like this from Canada. One could almost get a decent 9" Sony or Barco for that money alone, let alone the food a big guy like Curt requires. 2K for an old nec, hmpft... Gerbrand paid just under 1500 Euro for his local, well maintained, and Calibrated Barco 1209 (s?) not too long ago. 1K should get you a Sony 1292.

Donald is right. Prices in Europe tend to be lower at the moment. 1K Euros indeed gets you a 1292. You get a 808 or something similar for around 500 euro, so the going rate for a NEC 9PG+ would be also somewhere in that range (probably a bit lower). So nobody in Europe in his right mind is going to pay $2K + shipping for a 9PG+ from Curt.

Fantastic result! A win win for everybody - Curt, who still doesn't sell a projector to a guy in Europe who never would have bought one anyway; the guy who might have gotten it, who can't afford a PJ but would have loved one; Markyb, who gets to expend the time (and possibly money) to throw out a perfectly good projector; and the environment, which gets to suck up another 150lbs of pointless waste!

BTW .... Please don't blacklist me. I meant no harm and wanted to do something good and maybe help someone else become a crt convert.. As I said, unreserved apologies for breaking the rules - not at all my intention.

I'm not exactly a longtimer here, but I for one see absolutely nothing wrong with what you did. And if I were you I'd reinstate the offer - if offering a free PJ, to someone who needs it and can't afford one, thousands of miles from Curt, is grounds for being booted off the forum, then I'm not sure I'd be desperate to remain. And I suspect that Elaine Benes' post was meant to be sarcastic - though even if so, Seinfeld-level humor it wasn't...

You think ?

...perhaps it might also lead people to review for themselves certain ideas and principles which never seem to get questioned sometimes ...

And I think it was EXACTLY Seinfeld level humour, thank you very much...I'm glad you could recognize the absurdity of this particular situation, and perhaps by extension, some will recognize the absurdity of very similar situations...

And I didn't want to post ANY follow up, but I just couldn't resist... Laughing

I don't see what you've offered as being wrong but Curt will have the final say (he's out of town at the moment). Nobody's going to blacklist you for doing something like this even if in the end Curt decides that people can't advertise free projectors here...

Someone got booted today because he posted yet again the same working projector for sale after he had been warned 3 times to stop doing so in the last month. That's pretty lenient if you ask me. If someone if too dumb to follow the rules after being warned 3 TIMES they have no place here.

Everyone gets a warning or two (or even three).

Again, not saying you did anything wrong (it's not my say) just saying to not worry about it! Relax, have a beer. Smile

Kal

.....and to chime in from Moderator number 2.

Kal's right, Curt will have the final say.

Relax, and try the rum! Smile
