Actually, besides checking all the subwoofer speaker surrounds (for intactness), this morning I also decided (just for the hell of it) to plug in the Denon AVP-A1HDCI and see what happens. It powered up normally. So I disconnected Jason's Denon 3808CI, and reconnected the AVP-A1 in the Home Theater. And wala, it has worked all day as I watched the Steelers beat the Browns, then the Patriots pound the Titans.

So there.......................

Seriously, its time for Thank you's.

Thank you Don (aka BBQ god) for pulling together the Meet meat (plus other goodies). Your BBQ is always superlative, and this year's edition was up to your usual standards. No one ever leaves our Meet hungry!!!

Thank you Ken Whitcomb, for spending most of 2 days setting up the geometry of both projectors from scratch, for redoing the gray scale of both projectors, and for getting a minimal first Audyssey equalization done. This is the first time the geometry has been set up correctly (because its the first time I had true 2.35:1 geometry patterns to use to set up the geometry) You have done a phenomenal amount of work in a very short amount of time, and under the gun to boot. Smile

Thank you Arli for putting in the door in the wall behind the screen wall in the Home Theater, and for running the four 20 amp AC lines for the future self-powered speakers. My plan had been to help with both of these projects, but non-working audio processors and issues with geometry setup and gray scale calibration diverted my attention elsewhere.

Thank you Ron for repairing my old Sony BDP-S301 Blu-ray player, in 10 minutes to boot!!! (Ron traced the non-functional player symptom to a blown fuse on the 5 v power line, and replaced it with a still-good fuse from the 3 v power line). Thank you also for both key lime pies.

Thank you Cliffy for making up all the bacon wrapped lil smokies. A total pain in the posterior, I'm sure that was..........

Thank you Mike for allowing me access to the latest video mods to both the VIMs and the neck board sets, and for driving all the way over from Maryland to simply install a new Deflection Processor Board daughterboard on the CLM of the left projector, allowing the geometry on the left projector setup to continue. I hope treatment will allow you to feel better soon.

Thank you Alan, for the Denon AVR-3808CI audio procesor/reciever, and for the color and black and white universal remote door prizes. Bill Belcher won the black and white remote, Arli Falk won the color remote, and my son Jason won the Denon AVR. You were way beyond generous.

Thank you Warren for th 4 copies of Home Theater, volume 5. They were the first things given away in the door prizes raffle.

It always takes a Home Theater village to put a Meet on. Smile

William

Thank you William for everything. Your hospitality was outstanding.

Just wish it was less stressful on you. I cant believe the second Denon was acting up.

Sorry I had to leave a little early but glad I got to see the super blend in operation. It truly is a sight to see. Thanks again.

It was great meeting you other hoodlums also. I think I was gone before some of the last of you guys showed up.

What a great 4 days! I am glad that these things don’t happen more often than they do; they wear me out! But with good times! Getting old is helll. Crying or Very sad

So I figured I have 2 days of long hours of BBQ’ing and started on Thursday morning. Rain, cold rain all damn day long! The “James Gang” from the mid-west (Cliff and Don K) call about 10:00am. Says they are on their way and will be here in 8 hours according to the GPS. First thought is, Cliff is driving, so, knock off about 3 hours. I am hurrying up cleaning up the HT area as I had 4 nec 6pg xtras all over the place. Tubes, lens, boards, wiring harnesses, screws, you name it! The place looked like “the CRT graveyard” again. And worst of all, the convergence not even done.

So, about 3:00 I am watching the weather and see that it is raining and snowing north of here. So, I thought even with Cliff driving, the rain and 5:00 traffic will slow them down; I have until at least 7:00 to get ready. NOT! Shocked 5:00, the wrecking crew shows up. Oh crap; I aint ready! Anyway, Cliff and Don roll in and the party has really begun! Hang out and talk BS for a while. Get in touch with Ken. We’ll meet at Clyde’s in Ashburn. What a fricking mistake! Service sucked and food wasn’t much better. As the old saying goes, “Tell the cook this is low grade dog food”. Thumbs Down Come back to town and do some convergence on the projector. Then, the Pioneer freezes up. So, we all unhook that and hook-up a new Onkyo TX-SR806. Ken does a quick Audessy sound set-up and we’re in business. (For half the price of the Pioneer, the Onkyo sounded much better.)

Watch clips until about 2:30. (Hey babe, you wanna earn $14.00 the hard way? – Caddyshack) Confused

Friday, everyone heads over to Williams. I hang around and bbq more. Again, cold rain…………….

I head over to Williams around 4:30. Macgyver655 (Ron) told me to bring over the Pioneer and he would replace the “saw resonator” on it. This part was smaller than a pin head; I swear! Ron takes a look at the part and say, “Sure, I can replace that”. Very cool. Ron had the part replaced in about 30-45 minutes. That was too cool! Cool

We head out to dinner at the Red Fox Inn. The dinner crowd was, William, Jason (his son), Clarence, Mark H., Arli, Don K., Ken, Cliff and me. The service, food atmosphere was 110% better than the night before.

William, great choice!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Head back to Williams for some more calibrating, beer and wine drinking and BS’ing.

Saturday, things start to get going around 1:00 and lasted until 2:00am Sunday, I think…

It was really cool meeting everyone and seeing some of the folks again.

Denon (Dead-On) stinks IMHO. 2 top-of-the-line units crap out on William. He is lucky his son won the AVR receiver that was a door prize. Laughing Otherwise, we would not of had sound from about 7:00 on.

Hats off to AVS for the AVR and 2 remotes for door prizes (Cliff and Don picked those up while at Alan G.)

Also, to Clarence for the great demo disk (this has become a standard for HT meets).

William, once again, thanks for you and your family opening your house to everyone! Very cool!!!!!

Sad to see it’s over; can’t wait until the next one.

That's a few of us that are disappointed about not making it to the shindig.
