Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is the point of the 1080p72 function of this EXT-FULLHD device? From what i have been reading on AVS and the like, even the likes of the 909 can't display 1080p60 without maxing out the bandwidth.

Apparently you need a bandwidth of >200MHz for 1080p60 and approaching 300MHz for 1080p72. Does anyone have a way of modding their PJ to give these values?

Thanks
Peter

Hi Athanasios,
From what i can make out from your setup, you have 2 Marquee 8500 Ultra projectors, posibly in some sort of blend instalation. This being the case, it would probably handel 1080p72. But for the rest of us singel projector owners (having one Barco 1208/2 on the ceeling in the lounge is big enlough) what is the point. We would need to go well beond the 180Mhz upgrade that Greg Eisemann's mods provide, to do the picture justes. i mean my projector displays 1080p60, but with the bandwidth being only 120Mhz the image looks soft. Many people say i should runt it at 1080i60, alter the spot size to be taller than it is wide (to cover the interlasing lines) and the picture will be much sharper. seems like a lot of hassel to end up with an interlased picture.

What i need to know is how to increase the bandwith of my projector so i can display 1080p72. Are there anybody working on thi s type of upgrade, or has anybody alredy done this. I am hanging my nose over the EXT-FULLHD, and thinking of upgradeing from my HDfury2, but it will only be worth it if i can find a way of increaing my bandwith to accomadate it.

Thanks
Peter

Even if the electronics could handle the bandwidth I have my doubts that the tubes would be able to resolve it. Electronics are only half the battle.

For 16:9 hard to do...but get a VP and crop the 16:9 portion of the image down to 2.35:1, so you have 1920x817p@72. Your not using your vidoe chain to resolve the black bars top and bottom of the 2.35 aspect ratio .

Fern48 that pic is a single Marquee 8500 ultra doing the full 1080p@72. But like Dan said you dont need the full 1080p for scope movies so 800x1920 works even better.
