O.K. I am sure there is a problem, and no it is not me. The blue grid pattern goes up and off to the left on the screen and the convergence does nothing to move the blue grid on the screen so I ca not converge it in any way shape or form.
When I brought the P/J home the blue G-2 wire was off and so was the ground strap for the blue tube so I have to assume something was always amiss here.

I think Mike Parker is coming out next week to trouble shoot and walk me through the set-up. Maybe.

With the on screen menu shouldn't the dialogue box drop out after 5 seconds during raster set-up? It does not. I have gone into utilities pref. 5, 2, off it makes no difference.

What controls the on screen menu?

I think I have a bad neck board on the blue, and a stressed convergence board.

I love the Northeast, especially that big park on the coast of Maine and Rockport and all that. Has a touch of sadness to it though, like ghost of bygone days when Fishing was plentiful and people were few.
If you can't move the Blue grid then the Blue Convergence channel is either not connected or simply blown. the fact that it's up and to the left suggest 2 of the 4 amps on Blue channel are dead This is the center card on the rear heat sink. Look for smoked resistors by the big stainlees transistor clips. Sad

Crabbing is still done commercially on the docks of Crisfield where I live. You can watch " the catch" be unloaded daily.

As for people being few, the entire COUNTY, not city, or town, has only 25,000 people. The City itself has 2800 residents.

I like my peace and quiet. Laughing

And on topic I will be waiting for Mike Parker.

nice to know the Crabs are still doing well. I was thinking about the commercial Cod fisher's and how they were almost wiped out. Nice to know the populations are s till small up there, might be a good place to run after global warming fully sets in.
I think at this point getting a pro's hands in that 9500 is your best bet. the fact that wires and such were disonnected in the back is worrisome, not sure how the machine could have been run that way in the previous install?

Yes you did. I did the small ones on the back last week. I was just afraid of the neckboards, breaking a pin on the tube and costing myself more. The desire to not part with my cash Won, and well there you have it. Embarassed Wink

the pin-outs on the tube aren't that fragile really. I've gotten some that wee bent into a Pretezel by clumsy hands jamming the board and was able to straighten them with needle nose pliers. The thing to watch out for is that little t*t of glass o nthe back, there the tube was pinched off after pumping down the vacuum. If you break that off tube is shot.
Also, leaving the white G2 bias wire off or putting it on the wrong pin, very bad.

Well Phishin ca Just left after spending a few hours with me and the 9500. Guess what, He got it looking pretty damned good and then we put it back together and.... low and behold the damn blue drops out again. It does need a neck board. Rolling Eyes

Also When unplugged it loses the convergence. Phishin thinks it needs a battery? Where is this found on the 9500? He showed me what he thought it was and where, but said he wasn't positive so ask here.

So I'm asking.

All the stress aside I now know the 9500 will look good especially with a new Moome 1.3 with Gamma.

And a big, can't say how big I really mean, THANK YOU to Phishin ca. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Mr. Green

the battery is on the CLM but it's probably not the battery. make sure the recall memory your on isn't locked and that ASR is off first. If you push "recall" and a little key symbol pops up then your locked.

I was thinking on the drive home, We were not feeding the source when the convergence was off. I never converged the projector on the internal menus. Just the external source that was off, all you need is the neck board.

Dragnm is right after you do convergence or before you do any set up make sure that memory location is not locked, that way any changes you make to brightness, contrast, geometry or convergence will stick, and if you dont want them to be changed once its all dialed in lock it. So hit utilities, source, and 3 to lock or unlock. And asr should be off as well as Dragan mentioned.

Well I tried bill Blues guide in full yesterday. I did not go well. It was going good until, loosen the 3 wing nuts on the focus coils. Then it went to sh*t. No I did not break anything, it is just seriously out of whack and my patience has worn thin again. I have so little to begin with.

So Other than gently and patiently moving the coil around is there a, sure fire, exact way to do this?

Setting up the magnetics on any projector is an excercise in patience and persistence. If this is the first time you have tried it, then you will feel that there is no control over the process. Stay with it and you will develop skills you cannot get any other way. i do not think that any of these adjustments are easy to get perfect, but none are impossible by anyone with the desire to learn new skills. The experts on this forum started exactly where you are right now, they just stuck with overcoming all the obstacles until they were very proficient. Imagine how difficult it would be to learn all of this on your own without the iformation or guides on Curt site ! The guys who documented all of this were really faced with a learning opportunity. i am very thankful to them.

Raster centering on Ampros cannot be done by adjusting the focus coils as there is no play to speak of. I do not have an Electrohome, but I would like this extra dimension to adjust the projector. I have learned that very small changes in the
CPC magnet adjustments can make huge differences in PJ performance.
