Well, this past week I sat down and watched all three movies. I am thankful these movies are each on two disks, which makes managing the viewing during the work week easy.
While I enjoyed the movies, these EE have a blue-ish color tone to them. I know this is discussed elsewhere and at times seemed distracting, but not to the point I would stop watching the movies or following the story.

I thought that was intentional, to show the depressing atmosphere of the Sauron-controlled world. I don't remember it being like that in the Shire.

I guess the blue-ish tinting had a planned function, but it was in the snow, too, even when the sky was clear and the sun was out. The tinting got to a level it showed up in the skin tones.
