This time I probably make my ceiling near screen using two sided acoustic panels...

Great idea on a removable solution to black/dark covered acoutic panels for darkening that area of screen light bounce. In my case I can also use your idea to hide the back side of my masking window shade roller from view instead of the pocket valence I was thinging of.!

You could similarly use it (area behind the rail above the screen) if upper masking of the screen were in your thoughts. And if not (in need of a pocket behind) why not go with just one rail in the room and a lip above the screen?

While this is a dedicated theater, it would give you some idea of what side curtains could look like. Couple the curtains with black front wall panels and the room could be interesting.
