Is there a minimum software version for COG on Barco 808 ?

I've got a former SEOS Barco 808, build date of 1999. It has a convergence on green board, connected correctly, I checked, but there are no COG options in the menu.

I have software version 7.31, but it shows SEOS as the maker instead of Barco. Is there something else I need to change to get the Convergence on Green working ?

Thanks.

This will sound counter intuative but my experience with a Data 808s and Barco Graphics 1208s/2 is that you need to have the jumper in the 700 series projector setting, otherwise it won't work. The instructions that MadHatter posted on this site allude to that as well. My Data 808s was a 1997 version so I don't think software is the issue since yours in newer and COG works fine on my set.

Edit: I suppose the SEOS software might screw up something I don't know but that software version sounds like a late Barco version. I think that Barco more or less just changes the "splash" screen for different OEMs. My Runco 1100s seem to have completely standard Barco firmware other than the splash screen.

Thanks, I'll give that a try...

With all your exposure to Barco's, do you know what board is responsible for the H Linearity ?

I think I've got to swap in more than just the convergence tray to get this back to a fully operational NON SEOS machine...

Man is it ever quiet and nice looking though...even not setup very well yet...

The H line is a very thin rectangular board bolted to one standoff off the convergence driver board. Super hard to find, and the controller needs to be programmed to see it as well.

Note also that SEOS COG boards are different than regular COG boards. I actually have a couple of SEOS COG boards here, the standard ones won't work in a SEOS set, and vice versa (unless you've changed the whole convergence tray to a non SEOS version, then you need the regular COG. (make sense?)Smile

Well my SEOS must have been a very lightly modded version, even though I've swapped in a regular convergence tray, when I added the SEOS COG board, after changing the jumper to the one recommended by secstate, the Convergence on Green options show up in the menu's. They work too, I've adjusted the bottom left corner of my grid with it to get rid of a little oddity in geometry.

How do you "program the controller" to "see" the H Linearity board ? I'm pretty sure I have the little board, do you have a part number for it ? Do you know where the connectors for it go ?

PS: I compared the COG board I have here to the pictures of the one posted, and even though its got a SEOS sticker on it, it appeared to be exactly like the one in the pictures, which is why I tried it in the first place...I'm getting the impression SEOS only does the minimum mods to achieve each particular installations needs and may vary quite a bit from projector to projector...

PSS: Even though this is an 808s, it has Panasonic tubes, 120Mhz neckboards, and scheimpfluge adjustments...only thing I'm missing is the tri-level synch add in board to do HD component...

Ok, so are you saying I need to upgrade the eeprom to 7.41 or 7.61 to get H Linearity to work, even if I have the little board ?

Do you have either version control chip ? I wouldn't mind getting the IRIS up to version 3, the current version basically doesn't work, it does a lot of fancy flashing, but the result isn't a watchable image.

I would bet given its late vintage and SEOS heritage that it has the higher resolution P16s or PT18s in it. You should see white/white ceramic insulators at the end of the tube rather than the pale yellow of the 180DVBs. When I went from 180DVBs to P16s the difference in resolution was huge. Those made a MUCH bigger difference in my Data 808s than the 120MHz neckboards.

You are correct, and the blue is perfect, the green has some odd shaped wear, but its nothing that bothers me in the least....

Now to just restore every geometry and convergence function...

I don't have left side geometry controls, where are they located ??

Anyone have any recommendations for sliding this f*cking piece of sh*t convergence tray in and out ??

It takes me a half hour or more to re-insert it without smashing the tiny pins of the connector, I've already long ago smashed the plastic of the connector off on one side. God, I don't think they could have made this harder to get in and out...

Take your time and make sure that you have the tray in the slides before you push it any farther in!! I have a little trouble making sure of this, but with patience I get it.
