Hi from sunny Gold Coast Queensland Australia from a CRT pro newbie
So i had a Digital 720p projector which i thought was quite neat, the whole time pondering a crt i knew of...
Well i bit the bullet a friend of a friend who installs hi end HT gear had a used but re-tubed Sony 1272QM sitting gathering dust the story went it was retubed but never reinstalled for a marriage bust up and so there it sat ... a few months of sporadic conversation (didnt want to appear too keen as this can oft effect price) saw it become mine ...
so its been in the garage now for a few months and now whilst the wife is away its somehow made it into the house
So in the first instance it will sit on a table before it will eventually be roof mounted.
So fire her up and of course my picture is oriented for roof mounting, ive looked for the last few hours and i cant find any info on how to flip the picture.... anyone help here as i can only stand on my head for so long without it affecting my viewing pleasure
I also was going to check the hour meter but cant find that in any menu anywhere....
everything else as far as setup etc goes seems to be well and truly covered by this fantastic site.
Well done to all those involved as it sure will make my adventure into crt a lot easier
thanks in advance

Posibly rest but could also have rolled over from 9999 hours.
You need to take the lenses off and have a look at the tube faces. Check your tubes against this:

And since you are new to CRT have a read here:

Well if it's been retubed the back of the tubes and their HV cables should look nice and clean too. If you ever need parts talk to me, I'm in Brisbane and have heaps of 12 series parts.

Thanks Analog ... have looked closely yesterday when i had the cover etc off and cannot see any wear but im no expert ... i really have no reason to doubt the validity of what the unit has been sold as
have read the second link and following pages a few times over the years... but when you have a projector in front of you it all makes more sense
Specboy.. certainly good to know ... must catch up sometime

Welcome to the 1272 club!
Here's the formula for guaranteed happiness, once you have the machine set up nicely.
Get a PS3 and an HDFury1 and whatever length good quality hdmi/dvi cable needed to go from the ps3 to the pj. You'll be glad you did.
Enjoy!

Welcome to the club! I am a fellow Sony 12xx owner! They rock for the dollar! Might I suggest an HDFury to compliment the setup. Then feed it all sources @1081i. Enjoy and repeat as necessary.
Scott
PS is there a large supplier of 12xx parts in the Chicago area ?(if this violates a rule, delete, I DO NOT wanna step on Curt's financial toes.

Thanks Blorton
I was reading on the Hdfury and i see theres a HDfuryII and for the extra coin wouldnt that be a more viable option going forward?
I figured the HDfury was the easiest way to hook in my HD players into the projector

Good call on that, I secretly hold out hope I will run upon a G90 for $500 and I will need the better stuff. If not I figure I will setup my theater in preparation for a bigger better PJ. Its just my philosophy not a rule

Nope. The II version is better for 1080p, which is too much for the 1272 to resolve well. Save your money.

HDFury2 is needed if you plan on upgrading to HDMI audio and most reciever see the HDFury1 as a DVI device ( which it is ) and the source Bluray player may not ouput the audio.
However if you don't run HDMI audio get the HDFury1. It's a great match. I had mine running on my 1252 at 1080i. Looked great and that projector has 14 000+ hours on it.
