Looks like Cliffy just started the thread the day before yesterday, and they haven't even firmed up a date yet. I'm sure he'll post over here as soon as a date is set.

I completely forgot about posting here when I had my meet last fall. I guess since I hang out in Iowa thread at AVS (I don't even look the CRT forum, anymore), I perceive the AVS thread as Iowa (so people that might come to my meet), and I think about this place as national or even international (so mostly people that wouldn't come to my meet). I remember Cliffy bustin' my balls for not posting here OR in the AVS CRT forum. Oops!

Wow, looks like Cliffy's going to sell his place. Damn, he hasn't even had the theater finished for a year, has he!?! Ouch! The wife and I have thought about selling vs. not selling our house, and I can't stand the thought of leaving my theater, yet. I haven't had the damn thing two years yet, and I dreamed about having one for many, many more years. Can't leave for awhile... Wouldn't want sell in this sh*tty market, anyway personally.

Hey, Mike - You can't say much, either - you live in "flyover" country just like I do. Hell, most people from California and New York probably couldn't tell you the difference between Idaho, Iowa, and Indiana, much less find any of them on a map...

As for our selection for president... I wouldn't say the "right way". Wink It's funny, though - The election map for the state looks just like the map for the country. The few metro areas in Iowa overwhelmingly went to Obama and almost all the more rural areas overwhelmingly went for McCain. I think overall, it was very close, though... Maybe not quite nail-biter, but very close anyway - definitely bluish purple.

I've been in the theater for two years now big dog. Yes, it's a bummer to give up, but that is obviously contingent on if the house even sells. The good thing is in my area, housing values have not been affected at all what so ever from all of this so I'm hoping to get lucky. Smile

Now is a great time for Real estate... if you have owned for a while.... The people who didnt buy into the hype during the Bubble (like me) have cash and are looking for value.

Hmm... I bought 4 years ago, paid a fair price, haven't spent a lot on the house, but have definitely made some improvements (HT!!!)... I wonder how I'd fare, now. We've been considering a move to Colorado at some point. I wonder if now is as good of a time as any. Here in the bustling megatropolis that is the Des Moines metro Rolling Eyes, house prices don't seem to have taken much of a hit, if at all. It just seems like time-on-market has gone up dramatically... as in 3-6 months instead of 45-60 days. Hmm...

You'll have to do something with the Sony's. They'll kill the property value for sure. Laughing

On a more serious note, Cliffy... What are you going to do? I always figured before I listed my house, I'd probably take the really good stuff out my theater, sell what I didn't want for the new place, keep what I did, and piece together some of the cheapest decent used stuff I could find to sell the place - <$500 used 720p DLP projector, $300 AVR, and a cheap 6.1-in-a-box setup. With CRT prices no, I'm not so sure...

He's looking for a plot where-one will ever notice if he plumbs down a big ol' Romney shack, get that big bucket of black paint to spray the interior and gets 10 Sony's* to get enough light for a good size screen.
