Hi; Please Iīd like to know if someone knows how to solve my problem.

I own a Barco Cine 7 projector. Its a great projector, but the image has a noise at all times and i canīt make it go away.
The noise I see is that the image is never still, it is always tilting, and some times the noise are horizontal bars moving up.
The Barco cine 7 has built in a noise reduction function, but when it is set to its maximum range the image refreshing its much slower and it leave a ghost behind. (So i canīt use it)

Iīve been looking how to solve this problem since a lot time so, i think my problem is called ground loop, caused by the ground electricity. So i have tried disconnecting the ground pin, i have tried connecting all the systems to the same plug, i have tried using an image isolator, i have tried disconnecting everything and only connected my dvd player, i have changed my video cable for better and shorter ones. As you see I have tried a lot but the image noise doesnīt go away.

I tried connecting a battery powered miniDV Camera and the noise did go away!!... So now i know the problem is from an external source and the projector is fine.

I also have connected my PS3 to the projector and when I see a movie the image has a lot less noise, but the image isnīt as perfect as it should be (i canīt use in the projector the noise reduction funtion with my ps3). I think the PS3 is better built and its better shielded than my DVD player.
The PS3 it connected through the HD Fury and the RTC 2200 Box sold here. (the image is great)

I thought that this kind of noise in the image was a solved issue, but i have it in my projector since i have it installed and i canīt make it go away.

Please I need help if someone know how to solve this.

Thanks a lot

Sebastian.

I may be wrong, bt the NR feature in the pj is for random noise (background noise) and will have no efftect on wht you are seeing, which seens to be 60hz hum. (side note: my experience is that some people confuse film grain as random background noise and try to use these NR functions to eliminate or reduce the grain, which is these NR's are not designed to do, thus increasing lag. Even the $100k+ standalone NR boxes I used in Telecine transfers would introduce lag when the NR was turned up too high)

Because the problem went away when feeding from the battery operated camera, I would expect that you are feeding the PJ and source from two diferent power phases, or there is something else on the circuit you have your source gear plugged in to causing the 'hum'. Try powering your source from the same circuit that is feeding th PJ and see if the 'noise' disappears.

My ground hum was caused by the ground potential difference between the PJ and the cable box's coax shield. As the cable STB lacked a ground of its' own, it was greatly effected by the potential difference on the shield braid.
I grounded the cable box to the switcher and the hum-bars disappeared.

Anything with a two-wire power cord has the potential (pun intended!) to introduce ground hum. You need to ground the metal cases of all the devices together with a wire running to convenient screws.

And where would we all be without "convenient screws"? Laughing
