Does the MUX-HD: HDMI/DVI Repeater support connecting a Playstation 3 to a tv with DVI input? I can't get it to work.

Thanks for any feedback.

cheers

Yup. As long as the TV accepts the resolution and refresh rate you're trying to feed it from PS3. (That's your likely problem).

Yes, well the PS3 should support 1080p, 1080i, 720p and 576p over HDMI. My TV support 720p at the max. My suspicion is that the PS3 defaults to 1080p (or i) when it communicates to the HDMI-DVI converter and then my TV gets confused. How do I instruct the HDMI-DVI extender to default to 720p? The HDMI-DVI extender shows the signal is detected...

I do not have this issue with an Apple TV.

Cheers.

The PS3 should not output 1080i or 1080p if you've disabled those resolutions in the display setup menu.

The PS3 is notoriously whacky about switching resolutions... constantly, in fact. Like most of us here, I have a CRT projector, and often it's not uncommon for my projector to have to re-sync 5-6 times between when I put a Blu-ray in the slot in the PS3 and when the movie actually starts and everything is settled down. It's probably the thing I hate most about the PS3... Like the AppleTV and most other set-top boxes, you should be able to tick 720p and have NOTHING BUT 720p come out of the PS3, but that's not how the PS3 works.

You should, however be able to lock out 1080i and 1080p. I had no trouble never seeing 1080p when I didn't want to. You just won't be able to control if or when the PS3 decides it will output something lower than 720p - 576p, for instance.

Correct. Lock out 1080i and 1080p. The Moome box just passes what it sees.

I cannot seem to lock out any resolutions as soon as I select HDMI as the connection. The only option then available is to see whether the connection works. Obviously it doesn't so I get back to the previous screen. This is since firmware 2.60; I recall I could select resolutions before. There is no way to restore to previous firmwares so I guess I'm stuck. The only way to get this working in my config then based on your tips is to find an HDMI tv, and setup the PS3 on that tv with the restrictions that apply to my tv (e.g. lock out the high resolutions). Any other tips please let me know.

Got it to work; not without getting my PS3 over to a friend and fix it on 720p output. Thanks for the help.
