Whenever I read stories about FedEx or UPS destroying something like these, I'm usually more suspicious of the shipper than the shipping company. You have to do a REALLY good job of packaging something like a large floor-standing speaker for ANY shipping company to NOT damage them in transit. The seller says "a package"... What do you wanna bet he packaged them together in one box to "save on shipping".
I'd put money on the fact that most people wouldn't have a clue how to package something large and heavy like a floor-standing speaker to prevent shipping damage.
SC

Plastic bag around the speaker, Expanding foam pad on the bottom, styrofoam on the 4 sides. Expanding foam bag on top.
Thats what i'd do....

the package has to be able to fall 3 feet, land on a corner, and sustain no damage. Foam and styrofoam will do this, crumpled up newspaper and Peanuts will not

Not me. Spotted on the Klipsch forums, advertised to the benefit of those who would build Klipschorn Jubilees, which use those two woofers per channel.
One respondent there indicated that he WOULD be bidding.

I'd wrap the f*cker in four thousand pounds of eighth-inch lead sheet metal.
