|
|
When I put the 1272 in, I had several buddies over and we he-manned it up there. (I have a 7 1/2' ceiling in the theater).
Obviously, a hydraulic table lift would be the ticket for these - but is there a less bulky/expensive way to do these? I'm planning for an upgrade to a niner and want to be safe about it.
Thanks,
Dan

I rented a dry wall lift from Home depot. Put a piece of plywood on it to rest the pj on and had 4 of use make sure the pj didn't fall off and then two of the guys started to put nuts on the bottom of the ready rod and we were set.

I have a uni strut mount...
To get it up there i rolled it under the mount on a cart... Then hooked it to the all thread left intentionally very long.. Just a quick little bit of blocking and then just sorta ran the PJ up to the ceiling via the mount.. got it all set and level and cut the all thread off...

I know a 300lb + installer that used to install Zenith PRO 851s by himself. He'd hoof the 90+ lb units up any size ladder alone. I watched him do it twice, and it scared the crap out of me both times.

Geeze I don't even like taking the lenses off one handed on a ladder.
I'd love to see someone heft a G90 buy himself. Then again what ladder could accommodate it?

I installed a simple pulley system in the attic over the PJ. It connects to the pulleys that are part of the Marquee mounting bracket
lower section I already had. Using this system I can install and remove the 9500LC all by myself, but it does take a couple trips in and
out of the attic to do it that way. With help, two people can do it easily in just minutes.
I've got a 4:1 mechanical advantage so I only have to apply 50 pounds of force to move the 200 pound projector.

I used an electric hoist from harbor freight, mounted in the attic. It was awesome being able to press a button and have it zoom right up there. I also made a custom two piece ceiling mount to work with the hoist.
