Hi All,

I'm sure many of you have had success in dealing with Moome.

I for one have not. Way back on November 4, I purchased an interface card and it took almost 4 weeks before I received the product. Toss in another week of troubleshooting. With out any success. The card was finally returned as defective on approx the 2nd week in December. Moome said they'd send a replacement. So here it is Feb. and no replacement card and no reply to any of my emails dating as early as Jan. I just got off the phone with the credit card company and stopped payment so maybe this might get their attention.
At this point I really don't care if I get the card or not. DVI/HDMI is nice I'm sure but rgb through a decent converter is ok as well. For those you like to gamble, knock yourselves out. For those who are concerned about mail fraud/ or it's variations I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

I have had three moome Vim-HD and the Moome MUX all work perfectly with no issues at all.

If trying to contact him you need to sen the email to the Moome curt palme one as his seed.net account is all messed up and he is not getting a lot of e mails.

Its too bad you arnt a bit more patient i waited 8 months for my first moome card, then another 8 for the next batch....we all know it takes time. For a specialty product like Moomes HDMI card to are old analog PJ's were no one else cares is a feat in itself. I applaud Moome for his efforts.

this is the thread you missed:

There is a button titled "spell check" I suggest you use it.

Like I said many people are probably ok with this "person" and their products.
BUT, When they say one thing and not follow up, It causes me concern. It's been almost 2 months since I was told "we'll ship you a replacement"
The replacement card should have been here weeks ago. When They don't bother to give you status updates, or even answer email, this has scam or fraud written all over it. I for one won't tolerate it. I've been burned too many times before.
8 months ?!?, are you kidding me?

Nope Moome isn't a scammer.

He's a non-communicative, CRT artist. He likes to work at his own pace in his own world.

I have 2 of his cards here too. They are a great product. You should go back over to AVS and do a search. Before he was selling here he would take pre-orders. Some would go on and on close to a year.

Eventually people got their product or as you did as you did, freaked out and canceled. I can see your point if you didn't know Moome's history but it won't stop anyone from buying from him today, tomorrow or next year.

Got any other problems?

Packages to and from Asia can easily take up to 10 weeks one way. We have to deal with that at work all the time. And this can even be the case when they are not help up by customs.

Sometimes stuff arrives in 2-4 days, other times similar sized packages take 6-10 weeks using the same shipping service and same plan all shipped from the same location.

Also, you may want to "pop your cherry" in the post department before insulting any of the great people here. Show these people who continue to offer their research and knowledge selflessly a little RESPECT next time! This isn't some GenX gaming forum for punks to hang out in. It's a place where people with a common hobby and a passion to keep the CRT technology alive and well come together. It's also the only place to find techs that are willing to service these things with most parts readily available. Even the guys on here that make their living calibrating and repairing PJs, offer their knowledge up for the DIYer. Today's society never fails to amaze me anymore.

Athy,

You have more patience and tolerance than I do. KUDOS to you and all you do here!!!!!

I just hate it when people who are not familiar with the situation and fly off the handle with a new thread like this. There are other threads about the moome products he could have asked the question for , or at least searched here for the problem. Instead of joining the forum a month ago and asking he signed up and blasted, as you call him Doc and I agree"artisan" him with not knowing all the details. From every instance that there was a defective product Moome has always fixed the problem or offered to send out a new product. I hope this OP did not piss Off Moome too much so he stop delivering the only solution for direct connectivity of an HDMI 1080p source to my Marquees. This Guy i wound too tight. and its only a few hundred bucks, i dont care how much or how little amount of money you make....big deal !!!

In Todd's defence, it's not always obvious to someone who doesn't know past history that things may take longer than expected. If you go to order something online and it says, say, "in stock/ships immediately" then well, it should "ship immediately".

Maybe you bought something that was indicated as shipping at a later date? I try to make it as clear as possible on the order pages if the customer's pre-ordering but a lot of people still miss it and after a couple of weeks email Moome since they didn't realize that the product won't be ready for another 4-6 weeks (as per what's written on the order page).

4 weeks is a long time for it to arrive, typically they take a week to get anywhere. What was the post stamp date on the package if you still have it Todd?

As well, which product did you order? I have records of emailing you back in late October when you asked Moome a qusetion but don't see any records of a "Todd Bailey" buying anything on Nov 4, 2008 (I'm sure you did, I'm just trying to figure out what's broken on my end).

That being said, Moome is typically late with everything and I'm continually hounding him to give me realistic dates instead of optimistic ones. In fact, when he says "ready in 4 weeks" I typically do 6-8 just to be safe. I've also told him to stop taking money when something is just a concept in his head. I He used to do this before. Now that he sells exclusively through CurtPalme.com, I only put up the order page when the product has been tested and an order has been put in to the factory. As others have mentioned before he would take a downpayment directly and then the product would take 1+ years to come out! That was ok when he dealt only through forums as everyone who paid the downpayment knew the score. When you put up an order page it's a whole different story. People expect more.

Currently I'm trying to get it so that Moome orders new stock whenever his current stock runs down to, say, 20%. This way he'll never be out of stock. Currently he waits until his stock depletes before he places another order with the factory which then causes a 6-8 week delay and makes him lose orders (people go buy the HDfury2 instead). I keep telling him he'd get a lot more orders if he always had stock ready to ship every day.

Kal

People need to know or remember that Moome is basically a one-man show and he also has a regular day job that takes him out of Taiwan quite often. So yes he does create alot of delays for his products, but he always seems to come through.

While I appreciate the support, I'm with Kal on this one. I use the (literally) 100s of calls and emails that I've gotten on the 'third party; products that I PERSONALLY DO NOT SELL OR SUPPORT. It says that right on each ad, but no one reads the fine print. I'm one of the worst offenders, and have bid on crap on eBay that is 'pickup only' etc.

When a first time buyer buys something from a company online, sends money, and then gets either something that doesn't work, or it takes months to get, they get leery. I do. You all do too.

So, unless someone is a member here first and does a pile of research before ordering, and knowing that it could take a couple of months to get product, they don't know the whole scoop.

Kal has outlined it perfectly above.

I can see both sides of this... On the one hand, if you place an order off an order page, you expect to receive it in a timely fashion. If you're told you'll have a replacement in two weeks, you should get a replacement in two weeks. It shouldn't take a month to ship anything anywhere, unless there's a problem. Even so, some basic communication goes a long way to calm somebody's nerves - especially with a $450 product.

On the other hand, this obviously isn't Amazon.com. I don't expect to order a very niche product off a very niche/specialty website and receive service like I do from Amazon.com. If you want a projector or HDMI cable overnight, you can order an Epson from Amazon and have it overnight.

It sounds like Moome has dropped the ball, and it's taking entirely too long to get a defective product replaced. The wait, and the support (replacements if there's a problem), balanced with the price is the MAIN reason I haven't purchased a Moome card. To me, having $500 wrapped up in something that could sit there non-functional for 1-2 months is totally unacceptable, and why I'll probably replace my HD Fury with an HD Fury 2.

That said, I wouldn't jump into a forum without doing some reading first and call a product or its seller a fraud or a gamble without doing some reading first to see if my case was the rule or the exception. Then, I DEFINITELY wouldn't make a snide remark about somebody spelling in their post when they're only offering help and another side to the story. Certainly not the way to gain any sympathy or friends.

Has anybody discussed the possibility of having a US/North American rep for Moome? Shipping single orders from Hong Kong is expensive and inefficient (and silly IMHO). If he had somebody keep some stock here in the states, orders and replacements could go MUCH faster. It would probably be better for everybody. It wouldn't take much time or money to do it. Heck, the savings on shipping alone could almost pay a rep a few bucks per order to label/ship. The customer relations improvement alone would be priceless.

Hell, I'll do it if Moome is interested.

I was going to post the same thing SC, The distributor can then charge the shipping. Moome gets paid as is, lower price since he doesn't have to ship individually. the distributor gets the lot and then ships out and charges accordingly for the new shipping charges and for the ones from moome to them, unless Moome adds that into the original cost.
id say two distributors one for west of the Prime meridian and one for europe/Australia.

Yeah, that would work fine. Or, maybe he keeps the flat shipping fee as-is... It's simple and people don't mind because their orders come FedEx Ground in a few days instead of weeks. Moome just keeps some of the stock on somebody's shelf in the US and EU instead of all on a shelf in HK. The distributer just acts as his agent, shipping out all the orders, and bills Moome back once a month for all the shipping, plus a fee for doing the work. In other words, the rep acts as nothing more than order fulfillment.

Either way would be better than the current situation.

I've been telling him for some time now that he needs to get people to help him and last he told me (a couple of days ago) was that he's looking into it. He needs someone to be around to answer emails and process orders efficiently.

My understanding is that shipping is quite cheap from Taiwan.

The other issue is simply the stock problem. He makes such small batches of items that they simply sell out so fast. Often even before they're done being built!

Another issue is that as hard as I may be to believe to Americans (Smile) a large number of his orders do not go to the US. It may not seem that way here in the forum but that's because we're all English speaking North Americans. There's a lot of European orders and a TON of his products end up in Asia, especially Sony cards (which outsell all other cards 2:1). Asia seems to love Sony CRT projectors.

I had ordered some PS3 blu-ray drives online from China on a Sunday night. They were in my office the following Wed. morning without any special shipping instructions. Shipping time is not an issue.

+1.

The 3 items that moome has sent to me were "sent and received" at the most 7 days. And 1 of them was delivered USPS on Sunday!

Shipping is not an issue.

Just so there isn't any confusion.

I was told by email that the defective card had been received and a replacement was being shipped in the next couple of days.
That was back in December. I've shipped more than enough items worldwide to know that it doesn't take almost 2 months for an item to be delivered. Someone dropped the ball here. If I were to be told that the item was out of stock, then it would be different.
