Our CRT PJ can have a hdmi input card/box for the video signal....but isn't it the case that when using a BD player with HDMI out only gives us the HD video...and that the audio has to be either the normal spdif (non HD) or the 7.1 analog out of that BD player? So, no option to have HD (HDMI) video and HD audio via hdmi for the crt pj?

Huh? No, since if you're going to get HD audio via HDMI, then you're going to be using an AVR or prepro to handle HD audio, then you simply send the HDMI output to to the projector. If you're NOT using an HDMI-based AVR or prepro, then the only way to get HD audio is via analog out, as you indicated.

I'm not quite sure I even understand how you're confused.

You can put a HDMI splitter between the source and PJ and send your HDMI equipped AV receiver/Processor the HDMI signal to get the Full HDMI audio codec's.
