What's the best card for bluray playback with DVI-dual link and vga connectors with pci-e for under $200.? I have a samsung 305t that needs the dvi dual and would like to be able to use a standard monitor when necessary.

I'm using an ATI 4550. It has three outputs; DVI, VGA and HDMI. The card I have is also fanless which is nice in a HTPC.

I have an XFX nvidea 8600gt in it now but I can't get it to display the higher resolutions. Could this be a driver issue?

That's the card I had before I went ATi 3450 so I could do custom resolutions. The 8600gt just didn't cut it.

if they would open it up so that powerstrip could be used, it'd be great.
but Nvidea refused so out they go.

I hope they are reading about this marketing blunder

They released a new driver last week. Has anyone tried it? I'll be close to Fry's today, so any recommendations would be good.

Don't know but I do know that there are issues with the 3650 and HDMI audio.

Does the Nvidia 94xx series work with powerstrip or are they still pushing their own broken drivers with it?

Dunno? I havent had the need to use powerstrip. You mean to make custom timings and what not???

Yep, that was the biggest problem I had with the 8600gt. I would make a custome timing, reboot or change montiros and it was gone.

FROM THE ENTECH WEBSITE...

PowerStrip 3.84 released

PowerStrip 3.84 has been released with improved support for the latest NVidia and AMD GPUs and IGPs, as well as a handful of small enhancements and optimizations. Year after year, it continues to be the only program of its type to provide driver-independent hardware support to multiple graphics cards from multiple vendors, under every OS from the original retail release of Windows 95 to the latest 64-bit Edition of Windows Vista.

The nvidia card works well for me.

I installed the latest drivers and it still will not let me go higher than 1280x1024. The display is supposed to go to 2560x1600.
