Just a question to all the Marquee modifiers,
I have added a lot of capacitance to all my boards, buffering plus filtering.
I would be interested to see if others have also added lots,
I have added LOTS, as I just added all mine together, WOW
Cheers

I have re caped most of mine but not increased that many, except on the CLM where i added close to 5500uf. I mostly just increased the voltage ratings as that increases ripple numbers, which is a good thing. I just went with higher voltage low esr and high ripple ratings. one place i wanted to add more but only upped a few was the LVPS. I think adding more there would do ok. On the HDM, i don't think the film caps should be increased as its a resonant circuit depending on frequency so those are "tuned caps" like on the FCM. But i did up the 475 uf to 1000uf.
So what have you done steve? how much increas over stock?

I have done lots on every board, where and how much has been the last 3 years of testing and many hours of scope work.
So far I have over 20,000uF of caps intalled.
Certain boards really do benifit from an increase, but others are OEM values.
Plus, I also change chips for better spec units.
Not including resistors, don't get me going on resistors.
Cheers

I agree that some resitors might be lousy on the original boards and there are plenty of quality low noise metal films
that could be used. especially on the video chain, but finding SMD metal film resitors in small quantities is not easy and i dont need 1000 75ohm or 20 ohm resitors. or do I want to spend $14 for the best metal film vishay resitos i have seen.
But i do think on many circuits there are axial resistors with better specs for the VNB boards and the FCM,CVA, and VDM.
maybe on some in the low voltage power supply too.
One thing Steve i was thinking of looking at are the diodes, like the 1N1004 or were they 1N1003's? but there are many of those on the boards and they are standard recovery. i have been reading some old audio articles called the POOGE papers and they mention changing any Standard recover diode to one that is soft recovery diodes, i found a replacement i think might be good but have not recieved them yet and might try them on the VNB's first, 4 or 5 on that board.
But id like to hear more about the cap upgrades.

Hmmmm, well we chatted for a long time, but resistors did not come up. Oh well maybe next time.
Awesome to chat, will talk real soon Athanasios
I am off to bed.
Cheers

On the focus board, I do two things:
1: Replace the large caps in each channel with 1000 uF caps, up from 470.
2: Place a bypass cap, a few pF metalized film type, across the leads of the
1000 uF cap, on the back side of the board.
This seems to make a slight but noticeable improvement in overall focus performance.
