I remember an old post at AVSForum giving a general guideline about Marquee zone adjustment: 40 for the middle, 60 for the sides, and 65 for the corners. Given that I don't have a colorimeter, is that a good starting point?

So lets say you run your master contrast at 60, 10% over default. If your "zone" corners are at to 65 then they are really at 75% contrast on that part of the tube.
I would be very conservative with these numbers. I would leave the sides at 50, top/bottom at 45, and corners at 60. This gives a pretty uniform screen brightness without wearing the tubes unevenly.

I usually keep the contrast at 50-53. I have an 80" wide screen, so I have no need for a higher contrast setting. I will try the numbers you gave me.
Thanks,
Nicholas
