i would have never gotten to this stage without this forum (partly) and without Curt (hugely)...

tossed in a non-HD source to watch some cartoons with my wife the other night. hmm, convergence is out. 2 minutes with the static convergence and we are off. 1940's uncensorsed Bugs Bunny collection and it looked awesome on the screen. sure, a bit grainy, but no worse than thye would have been 70 years ago in the theatre. all we were missing was the popcorn and some kid kicking the seat from behind Smile

the night before she and I watch Casino Royale. I'd spent 1/2 an hour doing the electronic focusing, the position and convergence. again, just a wonderful time. crisp crisp crisp with great depth and colour.

yesterday i looked at the XG setup doc that Curt wrote and for the first time it made sense. when i looked at it 3 years or so ago it was a mess of confusion where now i start thinking, "yeah .... i should look at that mechanical corner focus again..."

i know that i can get the picture even better, and i know that i'll have lots more questions, but when i look back to 5 years ago when i first contacted Curt i would have never dreamed at such a great picture and the total sense of satisfaction and fun in getting it up on the ceiling, adjusting it and just having a really really great blast enjoying movies in my home.

Curt - THANK YOU. for the patience, the lessons and for all the things that you do to keep CRTs a real viable projector option in today's world of lessened standards and digital cruft.

Guy's
No-one here is less tech savvy than me(we should start a poll one who's the dummest Mr. Green )until a few months ago I'd never touched a board.
Now I'm confident in setup, convergence, alignment etc etc...
Before when doing anything on the pj,it was disorganised chaos, now it's controlled semi organised chaos Very Happy
This site is the sole reason I purchased a barco as I knew I could rely on people like curt to assist with my problems, and there has been quite a few of them.
Just recently I've found a local tech to repair one of my boards but I still ended up sending mine to curt knowing full well it would cost me more.
I for one believe that the more we do to support the site,(got off my ass and became a club member)the longer curt will be around to put up with our crap Thumbs Up

You've got me beat. I have barely opened my 1252 up to adjust the raster and clean the boards. I've still got a computer next to the pj to make sure that I can do the step-by-step setup right. I don't even know how to tell how many hours my tubes have been used.

I find it funny how some of us have like high school electronics level of tech (which was 15+ years ago for me) and other guys who are very technical. They'll explain something like it's so easy to uderstand and you are left going "Uh, uhmmmm, yeah... What?".

Even still, most people are very patient and by doing so, helping us nubes get into this great hobby, keeping CRT alive. I can't believe how many young (under 20) people are jumping onto the CRT bandwagon considering they were brought up in the portable/ disposable world of cheap junk. Having cell phones, Ipods, playstation portables and then a big a$$ CRT projector. It's kind of funny. Smile

I'll take credit for some of the service work, but man, the skilled and qualified people here that take setup and tweaks to a whole new level... I just sit back and marvel..'I couldn't do that!'

Cliff's place was a big eye opener, now I'd like to see a blend in action.

Yes, Athan, Mike, Doug, Dave, and many others here.

Methinks some of you could really design one hell of a projector without the shortcomings of what's out there now....

...the rest of us would look and point and say things like 'I think the convergence is out on the bottom left', 'It doesn't quite look bang on 6500K', 'can you make one with less fan noise?' Very Happy

You supply the Bufflao wings and I'm on my way. I like the Suicide recipe. It's nice and mild as compared to the Toronto wings which by the time you hit suicide level here is 10-12 trimes hotter than Buffalo ( less snow too Laughing )

You're only about 2.5 hours ( NOT in rush hour trafic ) away from me.
