I was just looking at the manual for the Pionner BDP-05FD Blyray player.

It won't output 720P Weird!

Another question is why do they even bother putting an S-Video or composite output on BD-players? Some moron will connect it that way then complain the image looks no better then his SD-DVD player.

I was joking. Most advocates of 720P over 1080i say its for sports. But, since most content from this source isn't sports then I chose to pick on those advocating morons.

But I do agree on both points about the lack of 720P and Mike's comments about legacy 480i transports.

I like having the 4801 option actually. If they are active at the same time as your HD outputs you can route them elswhere in the house or use and older TV in a pinch.

I can tell you that my 1999 480i Samsung 27" TV looked incredible over S-video when I ran my HTPC into it and dispalyed an HD signal on it.
