|
|
Is anyone aware of a single low rise recliner / theater seat. I would like to place a few recliners in front of my back row seating but obviously need them to be signifigantly lower than the back seats. (Please no suggestions to build a riser for various reasons). I had been keeping an eye out for some for awhile but figured they were not available until today. I was at Fry's looking for a small lcd tv and saw a recliner that at first thought was what I wanted. It turned out that it was a massage chair that the back reclined but did not have the foot rest that could be extended. Close but no cigar.
Thanks
Dan

Car seats work great, like recaro's they are low to the ground. But the people sitting there will have their legs sticking straight out on the floor, so its like a leg rest. Or you could build a small riser for each individual seat, about 6 inch's high that would be better and you can pick them up an move them around later. Junk yard's have great seats sometimes.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for some "real" recliners that adjust back and have the extendable foot rest.

I have a Lazy-boy sofa with recliners on both ends that go quite low. Anyone seated behind them in a standard height chair can see over my head quite easily. I just need to put some black velveteen on my scalp to reduce the reflections and glare.

If you are always going to have two rows, one in front of the other, then there are few reasons not to do a riser. If you want to be able to move the chairs from their "normal" position into a "theater" position, then I can see how it makes sense.
For the former, a riser is the way to go, but to service the needs of some who inexplicably do not was a riser, I know at least one seating company (I think if was fortress) that actually designs a range of "home theater seats" in different heights for this very customer.
The issue with multiple rows without a riser is that you usually have to mount the screen too high. So high that is is not comfortable for the front row.
If it is for total temp use, maybe those low gaming chairs?

I currently have a set of 2 fold down style movie theater seats on each side for my front row. I have them mounted to a carpeted board and the original intent was to slide these into the the walk in attic off of the media room and bring them out when I needed additional seating. I purchased a reclining sectional with a chaise on one end for the back row and it is not as comfortable as I thought it would be. I have also found that by sitting the additional 3 or 4 feet away from the screen that it really takes away from the "immersion" effect of the movie. So basically I want a more comfortable and close seat for myself without admitting to my wife that I purchased the wrong seating for the back. My projector is floor mounted and it would be uncomfortable trying to build a riser in the confined area as well as we have an eliptical next to the rear seating. Unfortunately the room is not used 100% for Home Theater.

Look at the Berkline 086/088 series. The have low backs and recline. They also carry a direct import model that is the same as the 088's only is made in China and is significantly less expensive.... they are model 12006 and come with power recline standard.
best of luck.
