Ok, I'm starting to get a little worried.
By way of background, my teenage son was ribbing me about the quality of the picture on my projector compared to the plasma we have. This challenge cannot stand, of course, so I started modifying my boards in accordance with the Marquee Maintenance thread and got some nice incremental improvements.
So, then I found a set of 9" tubes and bought from Mike Parker the plates necessary to get them into the projector. Next came a Red C Element that I put in before installing the tubes. During the course of modifying my boards, I hit a snag, and decided it would be helpful to have a test bed. So, I bought another Marquee 8500. Then, I snagged an '03 VIM, a spare HVPS, a spare focus board. Then set of 10F lenses. Then I found an ultra CCM and an ultra VDM. Then I found a working Sony 1292 here in town cheap and bought that for the focus coils.
So, I am filling my house with projector parts.

Are you trying to say that this isn't normal behavior?

You know Nashou, if you just left those tubes alone in the dark with a 40 of Glycol and some Barry White on the stereo you'd have a lot more. Of course they'd be 7inch at first but give them time eventually they would grow up to be 9 inchers.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could make some bizarre freak-out substance from certain CRT projector components? Combine worn phosphor with some glycol, and boil it for five minutes. Then inhale the fumes, something for the real CRT addicts.

plasma could be defined as a better picture, only depending on what YOU like in a picture.
I have a Barco808s and I like the picture better than a plasma...due to it's smoothness and depth of image. Plasma is very, very good...but it's not 96 inches wide and usually throws a somewhat flat 2d picture.

I noticed the lack of a 3d looking picture on the flat screen too. Especially the 120Hz LCD's. They just look un-natural and flat to me.
EDIT: No pun intended.

Be sure to let them quote you on this. I think you're the only customer that thinks so. UPS sucks!
