I have been running a Sony VPH-1030Q1 for quite some time now, and the wife wanted it off the floor for the holidays. Facilitating a move from down to up is quite simple. After about a month of hanging from its new home, it will now run for 45 minutes, then shut off. If you remove power from the unit, either by the power switch, or turning off the surge supressor its plugged into, it will fire right back up, but only run for 5 minutes, then shut down again. The fans all spin freely.
I removed the cover, and the front fascia, and now I can get it to run for an hour and a half. Same problem, but it runs for a half hour before crapping out, and requiring a re-start. I should also mention that since this problem started, the focus and convergence just can't get as tight as they were pre-problem. 480P looked great, but now you can't tell the difference. 1080I will still lock on a signal, and its watchable, but it doesn't look any better than 480I.
Being a bottom of the barrel projector, I don't want to go through the hassle of pulling boards and shipping them in for costly repairs. Is there someone with experience in this model who can point to the problem for me?
Thanks.

There isn't a thermal shutdown in the set that I know of. I'm guessing power supply. That's very typical of these older sets. Maybe play a hair dryer over hte boards to see if you can heat something up to fail faster? I'm clearing out all Sony 10XX stuff, so for the price of shipping I can send you a buncha boards. Minimal charge for the power supply, tested and working.
