Hey everyone, I picked up this awesome projector last year and it worked great for a few months until I decided to mess with it and try and make the focus a little better.. I instead made the focus waaaay worse and got the whole thing way out of whack. i cant even see any of the words on the screen because its so blurry and the colors dont match up... its not broken in any way, it just needs to be fine tuned and I have no idea what im doing. I dont have any kind of manual for it or anything and theres a whole lot of buttons. I dont even know how i managed to mess it up so bad but somehow I did and now it sucks because it cost me a lot and now its useless!! can anyone help me out?

It would help if you could remember what you did to start the focus problem. Did you set up the projector yourself? Is the focus poor on all 3 crts equally or not? Did you only mess with the built in menus?

I remember that I was in test mode and I was trying to get all three colors to line up on two white lines that were perpendicular and crossing streight through the middle... the more i messed with it.. the more they got all tilted and messed up.. they wouldnt move together and line up the way i wanted by pressing the arrows.. it was really frustrating.

Ah, so they are probably misconverged, not out of focus. Welcome to the world of crt setup You can check out the Sony setup manual on this site to learn what the convergence controls do.

You can also read this:(some of these steps might be too much than you need to do, but it also includes the more basic setup steps too)

You need to get the projector the proper distance from the screen and don't use the RGB centre use the Zone centre. It's the first step in the setup after optical focusing.
Read the manual, get a flash light, turn the lights down low and come back in 8 hours when you have a fairly decent picture or have pulled your hair out. Which ever comes first.
