Gday people, my NEC 9PG finally turned up today, im just in the process of taking the lenses off (only got the blue off so far, but i cant even see any wear at all on it, apparently done 5,000 hrs, buggered if i can see 5,000 hrs of wear here...)

With this blue off now, i cant see any bubble in the glycol, and ive heard there should be on non LC tubes, (my Sony VPH-1001QM has the bubbles) I also cant see where i would drain some glycol out yet, do i have to remove the tubes for this?

How important is it that i have a bubble in there? Did they have a bubble there from the factory? I dont see anything about it in the instructions which is why i ask.

Thanks in advance people Thumbs Up

You have to remove the tubes.

Pick out the silicone, and remove a tiny grubscrew - there are two holes.

Watch the glycol fly!!

And then push a bubble in with a syringe + needle.

Kai made a guide, it's in the Tech section.

Do it, or you will regret it later.

Sh**. So that bit of white silastic on the bottom of the tubes is where i need to get to eh? That sounds like alot of hard work, but there is no way in hell i want to risk damage to such perfect looking tubes.

Thanks mate, apreciate your reply Wink

Do it, I just had a green tube with cracked front glass. It was sitting on a shelf, so fortunately no further damage was done.
Currently trying to source a replacement front glass Smile

It's a major PITA to get the glass off, while bleeding the tubes is a really quick affair. I was just too lazy.

I have now gone through all of the tubes on my shelf again, and it took only about an hour total.

Ok, im into it, got the blue tube done, could only get one screw out, didnt want to force the other one. Got the bubble about 17/32s - 9/16ths round when holding the tube upright, so that should be good i hope. Sealed it back up with Permatex Ultra Grey RTV.

All done, all back together.

What settings do you all recomend i set all the settings to before i do the mechanical setup? I read the tips section but it says zero them, but dont zero this, then set the other to 100.

What do i set to what?

So after 3 months, give or take a few days, i looked into the lenses on the PG last night, could only see bubbles in the blue and green, and very small ones at that, so i took the lens off the red. No bubble visible (i looked a few weeks ago and there was a small one in there)

So its back to bleeding again....

It'll be alright.

The pressure has been relieved - it will take years to build up again...at least it would down here in fireland.
