|
|
Hi All,
I'm new to CRT projectors and this forum, but would like your opinions on this matter..
I recently bought a Barco Data 500 with only 720 hours on the internal counter. To me, the unit and tubes seem to be in mint condition, with no wear on the tubes. Since this is my first proper CRT projector, I'm currently experimenting a bit to try and get the best picture possible out of this device.
I've got a number of problems though. When I connect my DVico TVIX 4000 series device using S-Video to port 2 of the Barco, I'm able to get a reasonable fair picture. When I try to connect my HTPC to Port 4/5 using a standard vga-bnc cable, I'm unable to get a decent image on the screen. Sometimes my desktop is shown, but only at 640*480 or 720*480, and never in a decent way. Picture is always blurry and shaking at the sides.
When I try to connect my TVIX (which also has DVI out) using a dvi-vga adapter and my vga-bnc cable to port 4/5, I have a decent picture on screen with almost every resolution my TVIX can display (eg. 480p,576p,720p,1080i). The only problem then is that only the green tube is on. Blue and Red seem both to be shutdown. When I switch the color profile on my TVIX from YPbPr to DSUB (RGB), nothing is displayed, in any resolution.
Do you think something on my device is broken?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With your pc you need to chance both syncs to negative from video card drivers or install Powerstrip for that.
Or use Extron or other line driver/sync box.
Green picture is normal with component (YPbPr) output.
Maybe TVIX have only dvi-d output that is only digital?
With hdmi/dvi-d sources you need fury or similar digital -> analog converter.

When I tried my HTPC, I've used Powerstrip to change HSYNC and VSYNC to negative, but that didn't help. I also tried 1024*768, which is supposed to have negative sync according to VESA standards.
I have a possibility to upgrade to a Barco Vision 701S. Will this help me connecting my HTPC?

If picture is rolling vertically, try to adjust v-hold pots from vertical deflection board.

If there is some other problems, check if h-phase is adjusted correctly from normal geometry menu. There should be unused raster in left/right side of picture when you look to tubes. Set brightness to 85 and contrast to 10 before looking.

I think vision 701s might have similar input problems and it's not as good performer what data500 is. It wont scan even to 576p signals and have soft plastic lenses.

The picture isn't really scrolling, but shaking on the sides. I think something is broken, as others don't have these problems with this machine.
Could it be that I've got a broken input board?
So my Data 500 is a better machine than a 701S? Mine has absolutely no wear on the tubes, and a total runtime of only 724 hours. The 701s I can buy has slight wear on the tubes.

When I turn on the projector on input 5, the red led on the vertical input board is on. Is there something wrong with the signal I try to put in?

I just switched the horizontal en vertical sync, and now I've got an image!
Do you guys know of any tools like the internal grid to set everything right for use with my HTPC? It's really difficult to do it on a Windows desktop.
