I am also considering building 100" Torus screen out of Silver Lame for a back to back comparison with the DA screen.

What is "silver lame" and what is "DA"?

A few months ago I finished restoring the Penske-Mark Donahue-Lola T70, you can see it at prismacars.com.

Very cool.

Silver lamé is shiny silver fabric. I think he meant DW (Designer White), not DA.

Rick, don't use silver lamé. I think you'd regret it. It's TOO shiny, the gain is TOO high. It can work but it won't work as well as a more moderate-gain fabric, something in the 2-3 gain area. If you're a real "I gotta do this myself" guy, I think you'd enjoy a torus project, and you'd probably LOVE the results.

Ah, yes, I know what that is. That won't work as Gary says.

Honestly for knowing what is going on and what has been tried, the DIY screen forum of AVS is the best place to start. I think some of those guys dedicate 20 hours per week playing with ideas.
